Chanel Is Winning the Suede Game

House classics and novelty bags alike are suede-ified for the season!

Chanel 25 Yellow Suede

If there’s one thing that Chanel has perfected over the years, it’s updating its cornerstone silhouettes and most timeless designs in new, novelty materials and colors, meant to entice even the most discerning of fans. Karl Lagerfeld was the original master of this, but the tradition has been carried on through changing creative directors.

This season, it continues to be all about suede, and few brands are nailing the suede game in the way that Chanel has. What differentiates Chanel from the rest is not only its use of rich tones like dark brown and cognac, but the addition of a range of stunning colors like pink, yellow, and, of course, that purple suede.

Soft, Supple, and Striking: Chanel’s Suede Moment

For Cruise 2026, relaxed silhouettes, such as the Chanel 25, are outfitted in stunning suede, while more structured classics, like the Chanel Flap, are softened with seasonal suede as well. While suede is often associated with the cold weather months, it adds a touch of texture to soft shearlings and the tactile knits that come along with the season.

Still, there are no rules when it comes to fashion anymore, and suede is no longer a one-season wonder, but a material to wear all year long. There’s something so eye-catching about a supple suede bag. Maybe that’s thanks to its softness, which begs to be touched, or maybe it’s that suede holds color so well; either way, Chanel’s bold, bright colors are winning the game.

Suede definitely looks great but how do you keep it looking new?

Get a suede kit with a brush and eraser. Also, weather treat it. The material itself is very durable and long wearing. I have a few suede Chanel bags and they’re great. Minimal maintenance in my opinion. One is a light tan and the other is a berry red.
