Earlier today, Celine debuted its Summer 2024 collection on film, and as we’ve come to expect from Hedi Slimane and his team, the presentation was a mix of casual and cool. Filmed earlier this year, the presentation took place at the stunning National Library of France, Bibliothèque Nationale de France, located in the 2nd district of Paris.
One of the oldest French cultural institutions, the space houses the largest collection of medieval and modern manuscripts worldwide and is home to stunning architectural views. The space relates to Celine as it is located on Rue Vivienne, across the street from one of Celine’s Ateliers.
90s Cool
The collection, dubbed CELINE TOMBOY, as a whole, plays hommage to the 90s and the very beginning of Hedi Slimane’s design career. Ready-to-wear pieces are a mix of downtown grunge and uptown chic. Leather bombers are paired with sparkly mini dresses while blazers are thrown over silk pieces, and denim cut-offs are paired with furry jackets. The looks themselves ooze cool-girl, and Hedi Slimane’s Celine differentiates itself from the pack thanks to its unique wearability.
Elements of glam are still present throughout, like a tasseled gold mini dress worn with thin strappy heels and a sequin gown with a low back. Couture dresses and jackets are embroidered by hand, an interesting juxtaposition to the casual nature of some of the other looks. This wearability is further defined by the headphones sported by some models, which feature the emblematic Triomphe logo and are a collaboration with Master & Dynamic.

New Celine Triomphe Bags
As for the bags, there are a few new additions to the fan-favorite Triomphe line, most notably the Victoire, which is a soft addition to the more structured Triomphe offerings. Featuring a relaxed construction with a flap closure and a convertible chain shoulder strap, the Victoire is offered in a few variations for summer, perfect for daily wear.
For the sleek shoulder bag lovers among us, there’s the Lola, a baguette-like shape that sits nicely under the arm. Defined by its iconic bold Triomphe logo flap, the Lola will carry you from day to night, adding a sleek night-out appeal to the Triomphe line.

The logo truly makes everything look cheap imho
Ugh! It has been a long time since I was interested in anything Celine! Nothing here that stands out IMO.
Celine (without the accent) just isn’t interesting to me anymore. It’s all just variations on the same rounded off shape with the logo or the monogram print. Why would I choose it over any other luxury label that does the same thing (YSL, etc.)? Half the luxury market has no personality these days.
I love the Celine Triomphe Classique Bag and the Celine Ava, but that’s it. All these other bag designs are not my thing.
