This winter, take a step back in time, or rather, take a step into Celine’s Age of Indiness. Making its debut last December at LA’s iconic Wiltern Theater, located at the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Western Avenue. Hedi Slimane continues to tap into his nostalgia for the early aughts, and this collection is all about just that—the indie era.
This winter, it’s the fashion we all knew and loved (and sometimes loathed) from the early-mid 2000s. That aesthetic continues to reign supreme, and no one does it better than Slimane at Celine. The Parisian House recently debuted a further look at its Winter collection with the official release of CELINE AT THE WILTERN. This coincides with drop one of the collection, which launched this week, featuring new bags (and more) fresh from the runway.
The Bags of Celine Winter 2023
Worn by Kaia Gerber in new campaign images, drop one sees the debut of the Celine Newspaper Chain Bag alongside the Celine Wiltern Clutch, joining the new Ava Triomphe Bag. Both bags feel new and fresh. A juxtaposition from the structured bags we’ve seen from Celine, the Newspaper Chain Bag features a soft construction in supple-grained leather. Finished with a chain shoulder strap and a gold Triomphe logo, the newspaper oozes the easy, relaxed feel of the early aughts with a modern touch.
The Wiltern Clutch features a similar soft construction with a triangular shape and a crossbody chain strap that’s also removable and can be interchanged with a leather shoulder strap for maximum functionality. Later this year, the big bags will return, with the launch of the remainder of the collection. Until then, discover more from the first drop of the Age of Indiness below and shop drop one now via Celine.
I really wish Celine would get rid of that logo.
If they scaled it down (like, half-size!) and made it gold-plated I could get behind it.
Me too. It looks cheap!
Thank you, next
Celine (sans accent) is just not visually interesting. It’s a series of unremarkable garments and accessories, with maybe an unnecessarily large logo. Dull.
All they do is to slap the same logo on everything. Bags, belts, shoes, caps and wallets.
to me Celine is just way overpriced.
