If you like celebrities who do their own stylistic thing, no matter what the trends might be, then you probably already like Kate Hudson. Even if you don’t dig her rich-hippie look (and it’s certainly not my thing), it’s always refreshing to see a celeb who has such a clear vision of what she likes to wear and how she wants to look. Stars: sometimes they’re also real people!
The process of identifying some of the bags in Kate’s collection was tricky – she doesn’t stick only to premiere designers and recognizable bags, which is to her credit, but it’s also to our never-ending consternation. We’ve done our best to pick out as many notable finds as we can, and we’ve also included a few for you guys to help us figure out. (You guys are so good at that.) Start Kate’s hippie handbag journey (with a dose of Chanel for good measure) below.
We’ll start with this Jimmy Choo Ryad Bag for several reasons – Kate was the face of Jimmy Choo for a while and is often spotted with the brand’s bags, but also, this outfit is so typical of Kate – even though it’s obviously cold out, she’s sticking with the boho printed maxi skirt. Shop Jimmy Choo via Net-a-Porter.
More Jimmy Choo! This time, Kate’s got the Jimmy Choo Terence Croc-Effect Leather Suitcase, which supports my belief that the only people who have Jimmy Choo suitcases are those who get them for free. Shop Jimmy Choo via Net-a-Porter.
Slouchy, neutral, luxurious – this Jimmy Choo Saba Shoulder Bag fits Kate’s style to a T. Shop Jimmy Choo via Net-a-Porter.
Kate doesn’t just date rock stars – sometimes she also borrows from their style, like this Jimmy Choo Solar Studded Shoulder Bag. Buy through Net-a-Porter for $1,795.
This Jimmy Choo Diane Fringe Hobo is kind of a mess, but it’s the kind of mess that Kate likes. Shop Jimmy Choo via Net-a-Porter.
Speaking of fringe: I don’t know whether or not this fringe bag is Jimmy Choo, but it certainly seems plausible.
With Kate’s love for slouchy hobos, it’s no surprise that she loves her Bird Lady Bags she has it in both ostrich and python.
And here’s the python version of the Bird Lady Bag – she’s been wearing these bags for years, literally.
Told you guys Kate doesn’t always go super high-end – check out her CC Skye Blake Bag. Shop CC Skye via ShopBop.
Kate also occasionally goes indie, like with this Deere Colhoun Large Sienna Tote.
Another indie! This time, a Hunting Season Python Compact Clutch. Get the look via Hunting Season.
Mostly, though, Kate’s bags are from large brands, like this Burberry Large Suede Tote. Shop Burberry via Neiman Marcus.
Here’s Kate carrying a Roberto Cavalli Florence Tote at Cannes, because as best as I can tell, you’re required to wear Roberto Cavalli at Cannes. Pick up the black version for sale for $943 via farfetch.com.
Kate’s relationship with British rocker Matt Bellamy has her hanging out with the social set that Stella McCartney favors, but she was a fan of the Stella McCartney Falabella Bag back when she was still dating A-Rod. $1,195 via Neiman Marcus.
The Stella McCartney Bailey Boo Bag is among Hudson’s current favorites for reasons that are perhaps obvious. Buy for $1,200 at Neiman Marcus.
I’m only guessing that Kate’s see-through summer tote is Missoni or M Missoni, but I feel pretty good about that guess. Shop M Missoni bags via ShopBop.
The Alexander McQueen Faithful Leather Tote is another example of the rocker style that Kate occasionally incorporates into her looks. Shop Alexander McQueen via Net-a-Porter.
Kate likes Louis Vuitton more than you’d expect for someone with such a casual, boho sensibility. She carried this Louis Vuitton Antheia GM Hobo everywhere for quite a while.
This Nina Ricci Liane Hobo is a particularly French brand of boho. Get the evening bag version for $1,306 via Neiman Marcus.
For someone who seems like such a flower child, Kate certainly cleans up well for events. I think she’s as excited about her Edie Parker Lara Clutch as I am. Pick up the gold version for $995 via Neiman Marcus.
It seems like half of any given red carpet is covered with Salvatore Ferragamo Edith Minaudieres, and Kate has one in her arsenal as well. Shop Ferragamo via Neiman Marcus.
The other half of red carpets are covered with Roger Vivier Boite De Nuit Minaudieres</strongs, and yes, Kate has one of those too. Shop Roger Vivier via MyTheresa.
We don’t see his clutches very often, but that’s a Giuseppe Zanotti Jewel Clutch that Kate’s holding. Shop Giuseppe Zanotti via Net-a-Porter.
My favorite of Kate’s clutches is the Christian Louboutin Mina Spiked Minaudiere – I bet it weighs a ton. Pick up the all-gold version for $1,895 via Net-a-Porter.
Finally, Chanel. When you remove the brand that Kate was paid to carry for some time (Jimmy Choo), Chanel is easily the most prevalent member of Kate’s handbag collection. First, the timeless Chanel Classic Flap Bag. Shop pre-owned and vintage Chanel via Portero.
A rarity – a Chanel Flap Bag with a leather shoulder strap!
Kate’s Chanel Reissue Camera Bag isn’t quite so rare to see, but it’s no less beautiful.
If you loved handbags in the mid-2000s, Kate’s Chanel Cambon Tote is a blast from the past.
