If your preferred manner of escapism is gazing upon beautiful handbags, then Chanel has come through for you in a big way today. The brand just released its lookbook for Chanel Pre-Collection Spring 2017 bags, and it’s nearly triple the length of what it was giving us only a couple seasons ago. Yes, we have broken the triple digits today, and because Chanel doesn’t preview its pre-collections, you’ve probably never seen most of them before.
There’s not a lot in the way of splashy new bag shapes here, but the collection’s breadth is still impressive even without a big debut. There are tons of Boy Bags and 2.55 Flap Bags, which will undoubtedly please Chanel fans, and if you’re looking for something versatile and functional, the lineup is also full of totes in every imaginable size, color and configuration.

Number 11 is my favorite. I’ve always adored that backpack. The pleated evening clutches are very cool.
$2700 for a mesh bag just seems…stupid. All I think of when I see mesh is my sons’ practice football jersey. I’ve seen bag #65 on IG. To be honest, a lot of these bags look like something my 85 year-old grandmother would wear-a little old lady-ish. Number 65 gives me that vibe. Not classic. Just old and not in a good, vintage way.

Some of the bag are gorgeous and some are just ridiculous. Why are denim flap bags $4k and those mesh backpacks and shopper bags look like something a college student would transport dirty laundry in.

Those mesh bags are terrible. I can’t believe anyone would charge $20 for that, much less 100 times that. It’s getting out of hand. And you just know the Kardashians/Hadids will bite the bullet and carry those “mesh luxury bags” in front of the paps.

I am not impressed. I have never liked the boy bag and the flap bag never really appealed to me either. This collection has brought me to my senses! I’ve been collecting handbags for over 20 years and have a beautiful collection. Just recently I have been actually thinking about Hermes and justifying the high price… seeing these bags makes me realize how ridiculous these high prices are… I’ve actually been on the Heritage auction sites where they have sold the high end Hermes bags, over 100 K… and that didn’t give me the pause this collection has. I don’t know why… I guess I convinced myself the 30cm Matte White Himalayan Nilo Crocodile Birkin Bag with Palladium Hardware was worth over 93 K… but seeing these ridiculous bags has brought me to my senses. Just Say NO!
There are some amazing pieces I’d love to buy. Still creasy about the Chevron Boy and bi-color Shopping Bag is on my list. The prices are definitely to high for my budget. So at the moment I prefer to buy a pre-owned or Vintage Chanel bag. There are plenty of Chanel Consignment boutiques or online shops selling them http://www.vintage-united.com is one of them from Netherlands, with very reasonable prices.
Love Chanel, they are classics and will stand the test of time, not a fan of the mesh bags
