Did any of you girls have bead boxes when you were little? I did. It was really a fishing tackle box from Wal-Mart, but I bought multicolored beads and string and took it to school and summer camp with me for quite a while. My friends and I all had them, and we’d make all kinds of little-kid jewelry with them. When we weren’t making jewelry, we were endlessly sorting colors in anticipation of future creations. It appears that the Maje Jelica Beaded Bag was made with those exact same sort of beads, and it’s absolutely covered in them. Like, on all sides. And I’ve expressed some frustration with hippie-inspired bags in the recent past, but for some reason, I ADORE this one.
It’s just so cool and different, and it looks like it actually took enough work to make it to reasonably charge a couple hundred bucks for it. It’s got a ton of colors, but it’s in the correct proportion for a bag that has so much going on. It’s definitely sometimes that would hold just the essentials, but on a summery night out or a day shopping, it’d be adorable with a solid-colored dress and some flat sandals. I can barely believe that I like this one; maybe it’s because it reminds me of simpler times, I’m not sure. I certainly never made anything this cool with my box of beads. Buy through Net-a-Porter for $245.
