Louis Vuitton at Los Angeles MOCA

I hit LA this weekend just to attend the opening of the Murakami exhibit. Loved his exhibit, and loved the LV store. I wasn’t planning to by a limited Murakami because I’m not particularly fond of the Neverfull, nor did I want a coin purse or an agenda. Not to mention, prices were jacked up about $200+ compared to regular LV prices for a Neverfull, etc. Everything changed though, as soon as I saw the hot pink canvas lining of the Neverfull. Screams Murakami, and boy did I think it was cute. One Neverfull GM later, I’m back in San Francisco, Buyer’s remorse? No. Rather, just trying to figure out when I’ll use this thing! It really is cute, though. Also, there’s a leather luggage tag attached that reads: “The Neverfull by Louis Vuitton. Murakami Edition. Special edition for Murakami, The Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles.”

I LOVE these bags. Soooo cute! Very stylish. I live in Japan so its impossible for me to get one from the store. Luckily I found this one (and others) on eBay!

I called the LV store at MOCA. They have all 3 Neverfull bags in stock plus the agendas. The sales associate said that it was their last shipment and thy expect to be SOLD OUT by Christmas!!!!

I think it’s outrageous and disgusting that the museum’s board of directors accepted payola for this installation. I’m not knocking handbag design in any way. Nor am I knocking all you LV lovers out there. But there’s a time and place for everything. Please note: because this institution, which displays art as it’s main function, chose to do this - does not make the contents of the LV store within the exhibition ART - in any way shape or form, within the context of the museum. The fact that a public institution saw fit to ‘legitimize’ or place the work along this cultural axis is only testament to their lack of integrity. I can’t even find the words to describe my ire about the fact that a PUBLIC institution sees fit to tow the corporate line in this way.

This bag is cuuute ! I especially love the inside. Now this bag isn’t the common kinds like the Louis Vuitton Monogram Speedy 25. This is what I call unique.

I have a question for Purse Blog: Is this a limited line? I plan to save up for the Neverfull PM and it’ll probably take me 4 months. I am wondering if this bag will still be available by then.

I am very surprised the LV lovers are swooning over this bag. And I am astonished that LV and Marc Jacobs let their names be associated with it. The monogram and stencil are “cute”. However, the quality of materials and workmanship are atrocious and not worth $860. The leather used is of very low quality and very cheap feeling and looking; ultra thin. The zipper closure is sub-standard. This purse would not stand up to other purses within the LV store. The purse is sold flat like a paperbag. Therefore, when you get it home it has a folded crease in it. Everyone knows that purses of any quality are sold with a cotton bag for storage and with paper stuffing to maintain its shape. Don’t waste your $$$. Go to the LV store and by a genuine article if you really need one.

Horrible…. Make sure you look at the pictures.
The color of the “Hands” are different on the fake ones. Inside too. Printing of the words are different too. I did a lot of research on the web and I have a real one I got from MOCA.
