It’s been a long few weeks for the fashion set, but fashion month has finally ended. Throughout the last month, we’ve covered all of the comings and goings that come along with fashion month, from the street style bags of New York, London, Milan and Paris to the newest collections from Prada, Fendi, Chanel and more.
As a whole, fashion month gives us a look at what designers will have to offer in the coming month. Still, upon further examination of the season, it also gives us a first glance at what will be trending, or in some cases continuing to trend, in the coming seasons. We looked at the many bag-focused presentations from fall 2023 and found 3 handbag trends that were impossible to ignore.
Featured many times throughout the month, red bags are returning, and we can’t say we’re mad; who doesn’t love a nice pop of color? In terms of shapes and silhouettes? Well, many of you will be thrilled to know that the big bag trend shows no signs of slowing down. They were everywhere this season, as were ladylike, triangular top-handle silhouettes. Check out more from the runways below!
Wonder if this is finally the year “big bags are coming back soon” becomes true?
I think visually big bags are back enough that they don’t look out of place (a couple of years ago it was odd to see huge shoppers, now they’re out of the closet again). BUT I don’t think the prevalence of small bags will ever fully go away.
A lot of things stayed post-covid: less reason to carry cash or many credit cards (all on phone) being the biggest one. Let’s face it, huge wallets and water bottles are a BIG part of why many prefer big bags. Not many people carry their whole life in a bag, but the big wallets and water bottles were the two things I often heard people mentioning as things their bag has to have in it daily. Now… so many people switched to card holders, and many either clip the water bottle or just don’t mind carrying in hand if at all.
I do think that the tiny tiny “accessory” “not really a bag” fad is going to fade though, at least nobody will pretend they’re bags when they can barely fit a keyfob in one.
i do feel that covid has quite changed our perspectives.. many of us no longer feel the need to carry around such hefty leathergoods on our shoulders anymore regardless of how nice it might look
I agree. I think so many of us switched to small bags with fewer and smaller contents when we were uncertain of how covid was transmitted. We wanted to keep our bags close so they didn’t make contact with other things/people. Places had stopped accepting cash for a while, so a card case was all that was necessary. Now that we’ve scaled back what we carry, many don’t want or need to lug a big, heavy bag anymore unless headed to the office or airport
Ive been wondering about that too. Heard that for the last 2years but still i see mostly mini bags out there (they sell more than big bags too in the preloved market. Minis are still so popular right now.
I don’t like big bags or red bags. I already own a Chloe Paratay which gives that triangle vibe. I’m set.
Yay, big bags! I need books and papers and my laptop and lunch and running shoes and a million things. I can’t seem to leave the house with just a tiny bag!
I adore the big Loewe bag!
The brown Ferragamo is gorgeous
The Dior is a vibe! It looks like an outfit shot from a dream sequence in an MGM musical from the 50s!
I am waiting for the triangular Prada bag.!
Wish I could see more of the Dior! The Prada is very attractive too.
I still think that triangle Prada is about one of the most hideous bags I’ve ever seen. The Dior was somewhat appealing tho.
