As any handbag lover would, I always wonder what the big trends will be when a season’s new bags start to hit the Internet. Last season, we had purple bags, and there have been various It-Bags for every season before. So, what’s on deck for this season? The first big thing I have noticed about Spring 2009 is that apparently, we all have the blues. Blue bags, that is. I’ve got 4 awesome examples for you, several of which I’m sure we’ll cover in more detail in future posts, so that you can be the first one to tell all your friends what they should be buying.

Chloe Kathleen Shoulder Bag
The Chloe Kathleen Shoulder Bag: I particularly like this one – it’s sort of a hobo-but-not and reminds me of a great Kooba bag I had a few seasons back. Buy through Net-a-Porter for $1695.

Miu Miu Crinkle Patent Tote
The Miu Miu Crinkle Patent Tote: One of my favorite things about patent leather is that you get much more vibrant colors with it than with matte leathers, and this Miu Miu tote is a great example. A lot of the blue bags this season are navy, but this is an incredibly fun alternative while still being on-trend. Buy through Net-a-Porter for $1195.

Jimmy Choo Manda Suede Bag
The Jimmy Choo Manda Suede Bag: Jimmy Choo has only been making handbags for a few years now, but with great success, and this might be my favorite bag from them yet. Buy through Net-a-Porter for $1595.

Fendi Large Navy Tote
The Fendi Large Navy Tote: This tote is a great option for someone that wants a bag that’s a tad trendy but still appropriate for their everyday life – at the office, toting around stuff for the kids, etc. Buy through Net-a-Porter for $1890.

Well, kids, there you go. Go out there and find your favorite blue bag of the season. Got some more that we should be looking at? Post them in the comments!

Love blue bags…but not any of these.

  • Anita

I love blue bags as well. I especially like the color on the Miu Miu, but I don’t like the shape.

I agree with Anita, the color of the Miu Miu is gorgeous (cobalt and that bluey-purple color is so hot right now) but the shape is rather odd. Please feature more bright, popping blues rather than just boring old navy, which looks a little drab when embodied in leather.

Don’t overlook the gorgeous new JT Italia hobo at Lux Couture (!
I have it and adore it! It’s a stunning cobalt blue and the styling is uniquely detailed. People don’t usually know the designer, but they all admire the color! Only downer: it is a bit heavy, but otherwise perfect.

I’m not fond of dark blue. Blue is the color of indecision.

I got a straw with patent detailing Francisco Biasia (the Lillian, I believe) in bright cobalt blue for my summer bag…I had no idea I was on point with the trend. This is a rare, rare thing for me, haha.

Maybe my monitor is set too dark, but I don’t like the blue on any of these. They are too dark, if I’m having color, it’s gonna be BRIGHT.

  • dinsquared

I have to agree with the crowd; not loving these bags specifically. Hayden-Harnett has some stunning Blueberry bags.

Not a big fan of blue bags ! My husband bought me a Marc by Marc Jacobs ‘City bag’ from the Spring/Summer 2009 collection as a gift which is fuschia in colour. I love love the color and the bag as a whole is very functional and very roomy. Couldnt get hold of a pic in the color i have but check out the bag in black

Love the blue bags! Say it is so that it’s coming this season. I missed out MbMJ’s “True Blue” And Rebecca Minkoff’s “Ocean.”
