Dolce & Gabbana Miss Class Tote vs Jimmy Choo Riki Metallic Leather Shoulder Bag

There is something so very reminiscent about this handbag. Could it be that is closely resembles the Jimmy Choo Riki? Ah, yes, that is precisely it. While the design idea is not entirely new, the Dolce & Gabbana Miss Class Tote sports a rugged feel with a somewhat feminine touch, the contrast stitching that resembles a bow on the front. But the overall feel is that of a street chic. There is nothing super girly about the bag, but it is practical and will match with most things easily. This bag has a tomboy feel. The leather is a khaki green color and there is contrast topstitching. The double top handles are one way you can carry this bag along with the buckle shoulder strap. The inside is lined with canvas and dimensions are 16″ W x 14″H x 7″D. Overall this bag is just fine. Compared to the Jimmy Choo Riki it is nothing special, as I prefer the Riki over this bag (buy through Saks for $1895). I see a major problem though. While it is nothing to write home about, the price is something to make you gasp! The going range lately has been more around $1200, and this bag nearly doubles that. Pre-order at Saks for $2,250.

Prices of bags are going through the roof, and I think it’s for the simple reason that so many people with lots of money have bad taste. Which bags do you think are actually worth their price tag?

Yikes! The Miss Class would be a perfect Mom bag for the park. I’m saying this as a Mom who spends a lot of time at the park with toddlers. I was reading through your review thinking, ‘How perfect for fall,’ until I saw the price. The price is ridiculous, if you need to spend that kind of money on a casual bag with no outstanding design features, then I am at a loss as to what is happening in the handbag world. 2 grand and up has me looking for a signature lifetime piece, not the bag I throw a changing pad and diapers into when I am in a hurry.

So uninspired, it is a tote and an average one at that. The Jimmy Choo Riki at least has that lovely bronze look and the fun straps around the top…not to mention it is $355 less!

It’s not I expect of D&G, very boring. Check out Loewe Napa series, there is a tote with similar shape and at least the leather is butter soft and light weight.
