At Tod’s, It’s All About the Shoulder Bag for Fall 2021

And once again a case is made for the hobo...

While Tod’s isn’t a brand we cover as regularly here as other luxury bag brands, it’s one we (admittedly) should be paying more attention to. Tod’s is a well known brand that makes great bags, and since creative director Walter Chiapponi took the reigns in late 2019, the brand’s aesthetic has slowly been changing. Priding itself on Italian tradition and timeless, clean lines, Chiapponi has stayed true to the brand at its core while revving up the brand’s more fashion-y appeal. Though the brand is mainly known for its cool, yet casual pieces, with each new collection the brand takes more and more risks, perfectly melding timeless luxury with a cool-girl aesthetic.

For fall 2021 Tod’s debuted a range of bags, mainly focusing on shoulder bags and hobo silhouettes, and all mostly nondescript, bearing little branding. The brand’s classic T does appear throughout the collection, on lush leather shoulder bags with an intricate leather handle, while other silhouettes feature embossed leather logos or hardware etched with Tod’s branding. Clean lines and exaggeratedly large, softly constructed bags are featured as well. These include a pillowy leather hobo and slouchy and unstructured shearling hobos in varying neutral shades.

The brand’s newest bag, introduced this season, is the T Timeless bag featuring a raw-cut profile, oversized proportions, and a drawstring closure, the bag is shown in a pretty light pink hue. Another notable shape is a smaller crossbody bag that is adorned with distinctive, oversized gold hardware and a flap closure. View the bags below.
