I have a confession: I have never owned a Longchamp bag. Never, not one. Not a Le Pliage when everyone else seemed to own at least one. Not a leather bag from the brand. Nothing.
It’s not because I haven’t liked the brand, I simply didn’t find the right bag at the right time. I do own many bags, so finding a bag that I feel like I need should also have a purpose. Longchamp is the brand that I have neglected and shouldn’t have for many years and stages of my life.
It would seem fitting to say I am starting with some version of the ever-popular Le Pliage line. But my eye didn’t go to a bag you’d expect within the line; I like to go against the grain.
Fashionable Market Bag
The market bag was intended as a practical market bag, mainly in towns where the local markets would pop up, and you’d grab some local items, but the fashion world decided to take its own spin on the bag. We’ve seen many brands develop a more luxe market bag, but I think the Longchamp Le Pliage Filet Mesh Bag makes the most sense (both in design and for the function plus the price).
Though the Longchamp Le Pliage Filet collection has different colors and sizes, the version that caught my eye has crocheted daisies atop as well.
The entire collection is in partnership with the non-profit organization Anaka, which looks to showcase craftsmanship and savoir-faire from Madagascar.
This bag within the Le Pliage Filet collection is in partnership with the non-profit organization Anaka and sets out to encapsulate authentic craftsmanship and savoir-faire straight from Madagascar. Artisans from Madagascar handcrafted and hand-sewn daisies on this net bag.
The handles and flaps of the bag are crafted from leather with the Le Pliage emblematic flap top and snap closure.
Other variations of the Le Pliage Filet Collection are offered and are made with France’s oldest manufacturer of net bags, FLIT. The design notion of this line plays back to cotton mesh shopping bags used by grandmothers decades ago but with modern-day updates.
I purchased the larger version of the bag right before I published this post (I know you all like to beat me to check out so I acted wisely this time!), so I am looking forward to sharing more with you once I receive it!
Longchamp makes great bags that remain affordably priced. For years, I loved the veau fouloné line, which was their best-quality leather line.
This article is about the mesh bag but wow that Le Pliage Panier XL bag is stunning.
Ohhh yaaa agree!
Absolutely! Will include in my summer bag roundup!
I don’t understand the appeal of a mesh bag no matter how cute or well made. Not only are all of your items visible but small things can poke out or fall through like keys, a lip gloss or a pen.
I own the xs version with daises and inserted a Hermes scarf in matching green colors. It looks stunning!
Hi! How did you do that? Did you line the entire mesh with a scarf? Thanks xxx
I can not wait to get mine!! That is a great idea!!
Thank you Megs!
I was just looking at this bag in the maroon color 😍
I’m sorry but the price that they are charging for this bag, it’s a little ridiculous. Really for what you’re getting and LongChamp their quality is going down unfortunately. $120 nope sorry, not sorry
Saw some with this bag and I immediately fell for it. Need to know where I can get it.
Longchamp has some of the best summer bags, at a relatively reasonable price point.
