When it comes to music festivals, Coachella is like the Super Bowl. The two-weekend event, located in the California desert, launched in 1999 and, in the 25 years since, has become more than just a music festival—it’s a cultural phenomenon, intersecting the worlds of fashion, art, music, and more.
In many ways, Coachella coined the term “festival fashion,” helping both fast fashion and luxury brands rake in billions by selling outfits meant to be worn in the desert. The event quickly became a hub for celebrities, models, and, in its later years, influencers.
What Defines Coachella Style?
If we had to coin a term for the Coachella look, the best way to describe it would be boho glam. Fringe, suede, studs, sheer lace, and florals are just some of the defining elements you’ll find in a Coachella fit. Staple accessories include hats, statement sunnies, and, of course, an It bag.
Today, in honor of Coachella 2026 kicking off this weekend, we’re taking a step back in time to look at what stars carried (and wore) to Coachella in the 2010s.
