Excuse me for a moment, but I think I’m having a serious case of déjà vu. I’ve seen the Vieta Edita Faux Leather Hobo somewhere before. I feel like the information is lodged in the back of my brain somewhere and I can’t quite reach it…

Oh yeah. That’s right. I saw it when it was released by the people that actually designed it. Back then, it was called the Valentino Premier Bow Hobo and it was vastly more attractive. Also, it was made of real leather. And, well, it was approximately 21.5 times more expensive. But that’s not the point!

I recognize that it’s nice to provide stylish bag options to people that choose not to wear leather or can’t afford designer bags, but it would also be nice if the companies that did such things managed to design their own bags. I’m all for a smaller company following trends or creating new bags based on popular looks, but a copy this similar is beyond the pale.

To me, the inclusion of a couple flat studs and the use of a cheaper material doesn’t make it a substantially different design. It surprises me that a department store like Nordstrom, who also carries bags by the designer that made the original, would also stock the ripoff version. It’s better than carrying an outright counterfeit, but I just wish that the “designer” had taken a few a few more aesthetic liberties when appropriating the theme. Buy through Nordstrom for $88.

its nice to stare at the art work of this bag, not sure if i will want to hold it. (fb)

I’d expect a faux leather version of a designer bag at Wal*Mart or Target, but not Nordstrom for $88. This bag just does not look good.

I really don’t like the look of this bag. The bow with the studs just doesn’t work for me. (fb)

I completely agree I can’t stand when you can see another bag from a more expensive price point redone poorly in a less expensive price point. I have no problem with people using other bags as inspiration, but this is too close to the Valentino and it wasn’t done well at all. It looks like the faux leather could break apart, and the bow is done poorly and the studs are too small. No thanks (fb)

I thought of Valentino when I saw that bag. I, too, am surprised it is being sold at Nordstrom but I think I actually like the little studs. (fb)

It’s similar but not the same. I don’t wear faux leather, but I have no problem with Nordstrom’s selling the bag.
Those who are not handbag afficionados may not even know the difference or even care. Of course, I can tell, but I could care less. For the price, it looks well done and expensive. Faux versions of real bags have been sold at any store at every price point for quite some time. I don’t understand all of the hoopla.

I like the little studs, its the giant bow that’s kiolling it for me, and I’m not a huge fan of non-leather bags

I think it’s cute , and for the price i’d probably buy it , maybe even be more convinced because it looks like the Valentino….but then again i try to be as thrifty as possible and would never be able to afford the Valentino……..(fb)

Those little studs on the bow make the bag look cheap, it’s a stolen idea, and it’s plastic. It’s faux everything. There are cute leather purses in low price points that don’t pretend to be anything else. (fb)

I like it alot, I think it looks better with the studs and I’m more likely to buy this since it’s within my price point. While it’s very similar to the original, it’s not exactly the same, so I don’t see the big deal. That’s just me though. (fb)

Ya know …. for that price point, it’s perfect for taking the kids out for a messy day and you’d still look fashionabe…….. plus, I like the non-leather option. (fb)

Hm, I think it’s interesting, but I don’t think I’d buy it. I’m not quite in love. (fb)

  • Prisilia

Pretty, but don’t like the studs(fb)

I like the different look- i’d never spend 21.5 times for something like it, as it is more trendy than classic in style- so it’s fun for $90. (fb)

the bow is too much.. but for that price i’ll consider it. (fb)

This looks like a great quality faux leather bag and Nordstrom would not carry it if it was not. I purchased it in white and I am waiting for it to come, so we’ll see what it looks like in person. I actually like the studs- it makes it cooler than the Valentino bag. Anytime there is an original, there will be knock offs, so Nordstrom is smart to carry both. The fact that it has generated this many comments on this website means that people have noticed that it looks similar to the Valentino and care to comment.

My god, it is exactly the same as the Valentino bag. It’s still very cute though, and I like the studs, but fake leather… Fake leather is plastic. I just can’t. (fb)

don’t like it ……….. it’s very ugly to me…….. good luck with that handbag!!!!!!!!!! (fb)……

The Nordstrom bag is definitely Stolen Style (google it!). Once you start to look around you’ll find lower-price point copies of high-end bags in stores like Nordstrom and Saks. The allure of the consumer market that can’t afford Valentino is too great for them to ignore.
