At first, I thought CC Skye Janey Chain Fringe Hobo wasn’t anything to write home about. We’ve seen plenty of oversized, long-handled fringe hobos, and we’ve seen lots of grey for fall/winter.
But then I realized that the word ‘chain’ was in the name of the bag, and I realized that I needed to take a look closer. When I did, I was pleasantly surprised, and it reminded me that the devil really is in the details.
We’ve seen fringe done in basically every way that you can imagine over the past few months, but we’ve yet to see it done in non-leather materials. And honestly, I was beginning to tire of it. It was fun while it lasted, but such an obvious fad usually disappears as quickly as it shows up, and fringe was really obvious.
In a nod to this season’s industrial trends, the folks at CC Skye have combined an idea on its way out with one on its way in. Instead of leather, the thin fringe is metal chain in several colors. I’d have to examine it in person to decide if I love it, but I know that I love that they tried something a bit different. The grey leather looks like it will break in beautifully as well. The placement of the fringe is still boring. Chain fringe is better than leather fringe but I’m not loving this bag anyway.
