It seems like it;’s been a lot longer than a year since Anthony Vaccarello introduced the now-cult favorite Saint Laurent Le 5 à 7, but it’s true that it hasn’t been much longer than a few seasons since the sleek shoulder bag made its debut. Initially, the bag received some mixed reviews, but there’s no denying that it’s a hit, with a list of celeb fans like Anja Rubik, Zoe Kravitz and Hailey Bieber, who seemingly owns the bag in every color! The shape is clean and classic, with the quintessential ’90s feel that we’re all seemingly craving right now. This day-to-night bag is finished with a fair amount of structure, and if it’s too structured for you, you’re in luck because the brand just released a more relaxed version of this fan favorite.
Meet the Le 57 Bag
Introduced with the brand’s Pre-Fall 2022 offering, the Saint Laurent Le 57 features the same petite shoulder strap as the Le 7 a 7, allowing the bag to be worn tucked under the shoulder. The shape overall is fairly similar, but the silhouette as a whole is a lot more relaxed, crafted from calfskin leather in the brand’s Carré overstitching (you’ll recognize this from the Icare Maxi Shopper) and finished with the iconic YSL signature hardware. The Le 57 is also a lot more secure as it’s finished with a flap and a magnetic snap closure. The back exterior of the bag features an open slit pocket, and the interior has a small open pocket as well.
