Introducing the Saint Laurent Jamie 4.3 Bag

The bigger the bag, the better

In the Spring of 2018, Saint Laurent released the Jamie bag, which had all the markers of being a hit for the brand—gold chain hardware, soft flap body, and the unmistakable bold YSL logo. While at first glance, the Jamie appeared to be entirely modern, designed with a contemporary attitude in mind, it is actually inspired by the brand’s archives.

A Modern Interpretation

Joining other silhouettes from Saint Laurent’s Monogramme Line, the Jamie bag reinterpreted the classic Carré Rive Gauche quilting. An archival method for the House of Saint Laurent the Jamie reinvented a classic technique in a way that felt new and modern. This Spring, creative director Anthony Vacarello revisits the Jamie and its classic Carré Rive Gauche, quilting once again with the addition of a brand new big bag.

New Season, New Jamie 4.3

Featuring an exaggerated maxi version of the brand’s iconic archival quilting, the Jamie 4.3 bag is here, and it is not to be missed. The Jamie 4.3 bag features an oversized body finished with the aforementioned maxi Carré Rive Gauche patchwork quilts, seen for the first time on the Jamie 4.3. The chain features another brand signature, Le Maillon chain rings, which Saint Laurent fans will notice from the front of the Le Maillon Satchel.

Maillon means link in French, and while the original Jamie is finished with a flat link chain, this exaggerated link chain adds a nice touch of dimensionality to the Maxi size of the Jamie. The chain can be made shorter when worn doubled, and overall dimensions are 16.9″ X 11.4″ X 3.5″. The bag is finished with a snap closure, and inside, there is one zippered pocket and one slit pocket. Retail is $4,400 via Saint Laurent.
