Since its inception, Polène’s focus has always been quality and craft, and it’s that attention to detail that is immediately evident in all of the brand’s bags. The latest bag from the cult-favorite Parisian brand is no different. Sleekly combining functionality with unique stylistic detailing, the Ilo Tote is the ideal summer carry, and it oozes the same Parisian-chic, quiet luxury feel that fans have grown to know and love.

A New Era

The once little-known brand has hit cult status amongst handbag aficionados and for good reason. The brand continues to expand its offerings, and this year, it’s also ushering in a whole new era with the unveiling of a graphic new logo meant to convey a timeless, minimalist style. Along with the introduction of this new brand identity comes the new Ilo Tote, which features the elegant new logo imprinted onto the bag’s canvas body in tone-on-tone high-frequency debossing. The first of its kind, this logo bag is anything but flashy, still possessing the clean lines and simple but still stylish aesthetic that fans look to Polène for.

While at first glance, the Ilo, which just launched, appears to be your average tote, it’s actually anything but. Unique thin leather loops frame the bag’s canvas body, and those loops are more than just a stylish detail; they hold the fabric in place. This different way of crafting adds dimensionality and an interesting aesthetic to a simple silhouette. Vertical in shape, the Ilo is large enough to hold a laptop along with other daily necessities but is stylish enough to be worn to the chicest of beach parties too, making this the ideal summer carryall.

In true Polène quality, the Ilo is made by leather goods artisans in Spain, crafted from 100% cotton and Italian full-grain smooth calf leather. Currently offered in black, tan, sand, and cognac, the overall dimensions are 38 cm x 35 cm, and retail is $290 via Polène.

What a HORRIBLE decision to plaster the brand name across the bag in such huge letters. Another brand that is losing its way.
Sigh.

Plastered? Its essentially similar to a blind stamp of a logo.

Hi StopFollowingTrends!
Right now, I would say Bottega Veneta bags continue to be my favorites. I hope this helps! Have a great day and thanks for asking. 🥰

PS: Please, don’t take my man.

Noted! Next bag I’ll try is Bottega Veneta and give a honest review if it’s worth the “hype”! It’s a bag that I’m seeing a lot of “quiet luxury” people wear, so I’m not sure if it’s even “quiet” anymore, but we’ll see!

I have been buying Bottega Veneta since the brand was relaunched by PPR (now Kering) two decades ago and the quality is excellent, the savoir-faire is evident, and the styles really appeal to me. But at the end of the day, the brand’s approach to design is not for everyone.

Wishing you the best in your purse pursuit!

Variety is the spice of life. I noted the name plastering on Givenchy’s summer line as well. There’s gotta be a memo going around somewhere lol.

IMHO it would have been so much more attractive with a discreet logo or brand name, preferably on the inside.

I don’t like it personally. Probably the first Polene bag design I don’t like.

Do you feel better now….. correcting a tiny spelling error? (No doubt autocorrected or english as a second language) 🙄

Compared to other brands, where the logo can be seen from the moon, this logo is not offensive and almost blends in.

I like the tote, especially the version with the cognac leather trim.

General Polene note, since I saw people were wondering about the Paris store. I went last year and had a great experience and bought a bag. Went twice last week, and both times there was a LINE outside the store. Decided to brave it the second time. Once in, the store was packed and I’m not sure how anyone could even buy a bag, you could barely squeeze in to get a look in the mirror. Left pretty soon! I don’t know about quality, but this brand is crazy popular now…..I did end up getting an adorable grass green suede hobo from Gerard Durel though :))))

Polène bags are very well designed. I might not like the logo much but I’d wear the bag with the logo facing me.
