Miu Miu’s heralded Fall 2010 collection is best described as aggressively girly, which may or may not be a positive thing, depending on your personal style. I normally wouldn’t describe myself in such terms, but nevertheless, the collection has captivated me anyway. There’s an elegance and sharpness to it that is totally captivating.

Parameters for picking bags are different than those for picking clothes, however. A gamine blouse or printed skirt may be fun seasonal purchases, but most accessories customers want their bags to go the distance for more than a couple of months of wear. In trying to decide between the Miu Miu Runway Flower Detail Bag and the Miu Miu Vitello Turnlock Satchel, I can’t help but ask myself if personality or functionality is more important in a bag purchase. The answer will vary by personal style, of course, but these two bags have me particularly torn. Do you go with something very unique that you’ll probably only carry for a season, or a toned-town version with only a few special details that you could carry for a long time?

Handy-dandy poll after the jump, plus larger photos and purchasing information. I’m leaning toward the plain leather bag, although I’d love a pair of Miu Miu flats with similar flower details.

I don’t perceive the one without the flowers as being more “timeless” although it is probably more traditional so might be worn on more occasions as many women use only one bag –shocking though it might seem.

I would get the one with flowers because I think one can use these kinds of quirky fashion items forever – just keep pulling it out to make a statement.

I much prefer the one without the flowers. It’s seasonal. The black one is okay. I just wish that it came in a rich brown.

I prefer the plain black. I think there is definitely a place in a handbag wardrobe for fun bags, but those bags can still be versatile. I think this flower one would get old quickly.

I vote for the flowers. I think they’re a fun touch that make this bag stand out.

I’m not sure I like either bag enough to buy. . . but if you’re definitely getting one, the plain is better.

How can you spend $1695 on a bag that isn’t leather. I can’t do it.

I just bought a miu miu one that looks like the simple one but mine is without the turn lock and instead it has a bow…I am in love with this Fall’s Miu Miu collection!! thanks for this article, it has certainly made my morning! My vote goes for the simple one!

I agree the fall Miu Miu collection is just awesome. I usually like simple designs but I love the flower design.

I voted for the plain version but I would not buy it – it just doesn´t catch me in any way. I kind of dislike the proportion and the upper frame (or how it might be called) but one can clearly see (and I know by experience, as I own several miu miu bags) the wonderful quality and softness of the leather.

I always believe in simple, versatile bags and crazy, funky shoes. I definitely am digging the shoe version of the flower bag.
