Man Bag Monday: The Alexander Wang Wallie Washed-Leather Backpack

Some designers have such a specific design aesthetic and consistently use such specific details in recognizable ways that you can spot a new bag from the brand a mile away – think Bottega Veneta’s iconic woven patterns, or Mulberry’s classic postman’s lock. The same can be said of contemporary designer Alexander Wang when looking at this Wallie Washed-Leather Backpack; Wang never ceases to amaze me, and I was instantly intrigued by this backpack.

While browsing MR PORTER to find a bag I thought the lads would enjoy, I didn’t even need to read the description of this bag to know it was a Wang design. Like his women’s leather goods, this backpack features the well-known metal cap corners, and the black-and-grey weathered design perfectly captures Wang’s love of downtown cool.

In addition to aesthetics, a backpack of this size and shape offers immense practicality. It can be used as a carry on, school bag, or if you work in a laid-back work environment, it can even be used as a briefcase of sorts. While the price is a bit hefty, in the long run, it would be worth the price if you’re into the unique shape and Wang’s signature style. Buy through MR PORTER for $1,150.
