Louis Vuitton released its Summer Capsule Collection, aptly named By the Pool, at the ideal time. Not only were spring and summer feeling within reach, but the happiness inducing color palette brings a cheerful feeling that we all not only crave but need. Let’s face it, the past year has been dark in many ways and while I will always be a fan of classic black bags, when you are a collector, you can allow your bags to be more playful and this collection is bright, fun, and feels like a vacation bottled up into a designer bag collection.

So I did what any bag lover with a handful of bags from the Louis Vuitton By the Pool Collection would do: I took them to the pool (it’s my friend’s pool who has the most beautiful, tropical, outdoor space). And let me tell you, the resort vibes with these bags is a match. I found myself drawn to the raffia bags, namely the OnTheGo and the NéoNoé. There are a few great things about these Monogram Raffia bags, but let’s start with the appearance. When I tell you every single friend I have shown these bags to has fallen in love with them, I mean it. I’ve had people ask me for help tracking them down and sometimes I want to say “Get in line!”, because I too have fallen for them.

Speaking of the Monogram Raffia, it’s not only a really well done raffia (trust me, I’ve seen many raffia bags) but also it’s sustainable. Each bag is created from recycled cotton and a sustainably sourced viscose base and features an embroidered Monogram Giant pattern. I quite like the Louis Vuitton By the Pool NéoNoé, it’s a bag that takes my mind to the Caribbean getaways that I so miss and hope to be enjoying in the near future. The raffia-like woven textile base looks really nice on this bucket bag, and there’s the typical additions you’d find on other NéoNoé bags, namely a drawstring, removable strap, and removable handle in leather. This OnTheGo Tote also features a really cool removable bag charm in a contrasting color. While I am most fond of the tan, there is a blue option as well which is quite nice.

If you crave a pastel ombré scheme, the other options from the By the Pool Collection will be up your alley. These OnTheGo Bags are in a light pink and blue colorway (white fading to blue and pink fading to white). These totes also feature the Monogram Giant canvas and a really nice leather flower charm which can be removed and used on other bags (I would use this as a selling point when I justify new purchases, natch). These totes are roomy and comfortable to carry, with both shoulder straps and rolled leather top handles. On the inside there’s a zipped flat pocket and two open pouch pockets.

Many of the bags from the By the Pool Collection are sold out online, but you can call your local store to try to track one down. And plenty of members of the PurseForum have been sharing what they’ve picked up, and many of the bags are so good. Which is your favorite?

The logo is just too big on these. I just don’t need everyone on the international space station to know I m carrying a Vuitton tote to the pool.

Same here. Im not really sure if i like the monogram giant. I have been on the fence for so long. I love that pink and blue onthego though might look better with the regular monogram print.

If they released the on-the-go in a classic monogram with black leather trim combo, I would be first in line. The monogram giant is just way too loud for my taste.

There are so many wonderful bags and totes in this collection! I am truly in awe, but also overwhelmed with all of the fantastic choices!

So, it appears that the “raffia” is actually a “raffia-like textile,” which makes the price point more palatable. I can’t pay real money for a raffia bag, no matter the label.

Well true but depending on how you keep or how you use. As you may aware that moisture is the enemy of a raffia basket bag! Since it is a natural material, getting wet with water may lead to the growth of mold and insects, as well as loosening of the braid. Therefore, do not use it on rainy days, do not place it in a wet place, and be careful about how to store!

So you shouldn’t really take it to the beach or to the pool, then? I was taking the line’s name a bit too literally, I guess!

I actually like the bag tags, they would make cute key chains for summer.

My onthego MM just arrived today, I am telling you now this print is the new classic. I can see them raising the price easy on the MM.
