Introducing Artycapucines By Louis Vuitton

Six artists put a unique spin on the iconic Capucines bag

Louis Vuitton first launched it’s now iconic Capucines bag in 2013, and since its release the Capucines has been reimagined in many different iterations. Named after Rue des Capucines, which is the Parisian Street on which Louis Vuitton’s first store was opened, the Capucines has become somewhat of a contemporary classic. This summer, Louis Vuitton has once again introduced a new take on the Capucines bag, tapping into 6 contemporary artist’s unique visions to create 6 limited edition styles.

This capsule collection is called the Artycapucines Collection and the Capucines bag provides an ideal ‘blank canvas’ for an artists individual design. Each artist has taken this classic silhouette and created a bag that is distinct to their artistic vision. These six international artists include Sam Falls, Urs Fischer, Nicholas Hlobo, Alex Israel, Tschabalala Self, and Jonas Wood. As the brand states, the Artycapucines Collection is further proof of Louis Vuitton’s unique ability to bring artists ideas to life. Each Artycapucines bag retails for $8,600 and is available via Louis Vuitton.

I love the Alex Israel “surf” theme one, and the Urs Fischer one with the fruits dangling off of it. So much fun! $8600 is a devastating price for a novelty bag though, at least for me and my peasanty bank account.

memsy

The banana one is insane.

Timothy

Omg look at that elementary school art project… The kid that can’t even cut the LV flower symmetrically LOL Just like the LV Masters collection. It will become irrelevant in like 4 months.

Sam I Am

Stunning, simply stunning! Also, very reasonably priced!

Adele

Absolutely hideous.

Bryan Lepe

I’m screaming at the banana one ? lmao

IT COMES WITH 6 DETACHABLE FRUITS AND VEGETABLES I CANNOT lmao
They’ve lost their mind.

Paul

How about a big adult toy? Think very practical same as ugly boring bag!

psny15

Hahahahahahhaha

Louis Vuitton has a special knack for making their already ugly wares more uglier

Bryan Lepe

I thought the masters collection and the grace coddington collection were bad… nope. This one ups them lol. I will commend LV for always putting artists in the spotlight though something that MJ started. They just have to know that not all artists translate their art well on handbags or moving things as well as they can be seen on still canvas.

psny15

oh yes lets put creepy kittens on poop colored bags and that will tickle peoples fancy. the masters collection was an abomination of beautiful art – i have never seen anyone carry that bag in person apart from the few d list celebs who probably got it for free.

Bryan Lepe

You’re so right about that. They’re going for normal prices on the preloved market too so it’s not like there’s still a demand for them.

psny15

i saw one of the consignment stores not accept the bag because they said their clientele would not purchase it, it was clear the modelesque girl who wanted to sell it got it for free – Only in New York, Only in New York!

Megs Mahoney Dusil

The banana one I thought was photoshopped!

Bryan Lepe

LV has officially lost it lol.

Master Green

I’m in the minority but I love this capsule, in part because I really enjoy the work of Sam Falls and Urs Fischer.

Passerine

I would actually consider carrying the Sam Falls one as a summer bag if I had nearly 10 grand to throw away on a frivolity. It’s the most “normal” looking of the collection. But the canvas doesn’t seem to have been waterproofed or protected in any way. One stain and pfffft. TBH, I’d rather this particular design as a scarf. I’d seriously consider buying it — as long as the price was in keeping with their other scarves.

Master Green

According to the pricing of this collection, it would appear that it is, in fact, aimed at people who can spend 10K on an unusual bag. Most of us here don’t have that kind of money… but there are a lot of people in this world who can afford these bags and will purchase them!

Jerri R

I want that banana dangley so I can tease the heck out of random cats

Jennifer

I’d consider investing in one as a collector’s piece. However, I’m not sure if these bags will hold their value.

FashionableLena

Not going to lie, the black and white one is speaking to me. I like the print with the giraffe charm and the pink LV emblem.

The white one is okay, but they got me with the charms. I seriously thought that they were props. Cute if sold as a set separate from the bag.

Kathy Oscar

I love my Capucine, but these are hideos! Is someone really going to be walking around with a banana dangling from their purse?

tess

Hideous beyond belief!

butterbox

Why? They’ve gotta be trolling all of us, wanting to see which sucker(s) will actually buy one of these jokes.
