While we all thought we’d end the year without much ado, Louis Vuitton had other ideas.
Twenty years after its first introduction, one of the most coveted and defining collaborations of all time was announced to be re-editioned. By now, you all know I am talking about Louis Vuitton x Takashi Murakami.
Louis Vuitton and the Japanese artist are delighted to announce Louis Vuitton × Murakami, a celebratory re-edition that reimagines and updates the original collection and consists of over 200 items. With the 20-year time gap, technological innovation and the House’s savoir-faire are utilized to showcase the improved vividness of colors and precision of every Murakami character and motif.
For Chapter One, the famed and truly iconic Monogram Multicolore takes center stage with over 33 different colors showcasing the Louis Vuitton interlocking LV and floral motif. When this was first introduced 20 years ago, it was the first time in history that the Louis Vuitton Monogram pattern had been reworked, and to this day, it stands out as a major moment in handbag history.
Louis Vuitton X Murakami Nano Speedy Bags
The first time around, I did not get anything from the collection. I was new to the bag world, having just started this site a year prior, and did not have the money to buy anything from it. Had I known it would have been as coveted as it was and revisited two decades later, I feel like I would have tried to make it happen.
The Louis Vuitton x Murakami Nano Speedy is arguably one of Chapter One’s most sought-after bags. It’s classic in shape, playful with the Monogram Multicolore colorway, and adds a feminine standout touch with the optional bow hangtag.
The Nano Speedy is available in both white and black Multicolore options. The white colorway has gold hardware, while the black colorway has silver hardware. The Nano Speedy is small but made more versatile with the adjustable and removable shoulder strap.
To round out the Louis Vuitton x Murakami experience, there is also multicolored tissue paper and a custom Murakami bow. I foresee people keeping the bow and turning it into a hair accessory (or maybe that is just me).
The Louis Vuitton × Murakami collaboration revitalizes the joyful and enduring nature of the original partnership, which was a defining moment for both the fashion world and bag lovers alike.
The Nano Speedy will cost $2,270 and is part of Chapter One, which officially releases on January 1st. If you want anything from this collection, contact your local Louis Vuitton boutique to inquire!
Honestly I’m more excited about the monogram tissue paper than the actual pieces from the collection 🫠
I also really love the tissue paper… haha
I’m on a self imposed bag restriction, but this might make me “fall off the wagon”. 🙂
Right? Such a joyful collection
Exactly what I told myself too!!
I can’t afford the new ones, so I went out and bought an OG Speedy in black M/C on The Real Real. So happy to have found one in amazing condition and a decent price! I love these new ones though especially the white structured tote (can’t remember the exact name).
Good for you. I finally bought a speedy after all these years. Best bag ever! Who knew? Well I guess everyone.
So glad that worked out for you!!!
Ok thought I didn’t like these before and now I am in love!!!
That is exactly how I feel about it!
Very cute but the size is way too small for me. However, it’s adorable.
Try the LV x LM East West Bag, its bigger than the Speedy.
I guess those aren’t selling that well because LV is now sending all influencers one as gift for promotion.
Seriously???? You can still buy “ stuff” from preorder ( well in Japan anyway ) and Pop Up will open from January 1st and so “ many pieces “ will be available and again only some items are limited without numbers 😆
I wouldn’t buy any white one( except a passport cover ) due to color issue = will become yellowish )
Most of expensive items are available for online order but some affordable pieces are on request condition on Japanese website. But most of pieces are available for purchase at Pop Up store in Omotesando, Tokyo apparently.
no it does not turn yellow. I have one for years. Still pretty and white with bright colors!
You guess wrong
Part of most brands marketing strategy is gifting items to influencers. I understand why they do it. This collection didn’t need much strategy though, as snibor said above me, it is one of the hardest collections to nab anything from! The preorder was a total sell out!
These bags were samples that we returned!
Hasn’t officially hit US market yet. The demand during presale reserve has been insane. Many items already sold out on preorder. Many people have not been able to even secure preorder. I’ve never seen anything quite like this for a presale.
Very limited number available for presale = Sold out. Do you still buy this perceived exclusivity strategy? On Instagram I saw at least 3 influencers opening their gift boxes and thanking LV for the bag. If LV forecasted that demand will be higher than supply, then they wouldn’t be going the influencer route. I wasn’t talking about PB by the way. I don’t know how they get their bags.
I doubt this will be the case. Specially with returns and defective products. Please do note that LVMH is losing revenue for three consecutive years already. They will try to milk the nostalgia as much as they can for the shareholders.

You don’t know what you are talking about.
I couldnt edit my post. My time scale was incorrect. I was gonna say, three consecutive quarters. With 1st and second being weak quarters (albeit a slight increased in revenue but missed analyst expectations). However, my point still stands. There will be returns and defective products and they will take advantage of nostalgia.

What’s you point? Louis Vuitton is a business. Their goal is to make money. Of course they want to play up the nostalgia factor! We all know it’s not a charity… 🙄
And we buyers are idiot right? 😆
I don’t know what your problem is. I was replying to the person who said that it was sold out and the demand for presale has been insane. Of course it is not sold out and the demand is artificially inflated including the exclusivity factor.
Everybody knows it is not a charity. You’re delusional if it is not obvious.
So glad I have my Speedy from the original launch. Mine still looks new. I can’t stand the games with waitlists or SA pressure to buy.
That they dish them out to influencers I know is a thing, but it turns me off!
The canvas looks a little different on the new ones?
Adore!
Me too!! I really want one! I don’t need one, but I want one!
I purchased the black multicolor nano speedy for $400 in 2004. Sold it last year for a profit. The bag was well loved and I hadn’t used her in years due to how small she was. I still have my white multicolor Alma though. That was my first LV bag ever and I’ll never sell. How fun to see this new group of bags!
I wish they would bring back the cerises collection, especially the Sac Fermoir Cerise!
There will be both a cherry blossom as well as cerises collection in spring, early summer 2025.
I need to get saving! That was my favourite collection from the early 2000s 🌸
Oh, fabulous!
My all time favorite, colorful, collection re-done for this year is so exciting! LOVE!
So they’re the same bags as last time?
No, the few models that are coming back are not done in the same way and a lot of the pieces that form the new collection were only introduced later to LV or we’re never available in the Multicolore monogram before it was discontinued around 10 years ago
I am obsessed. My teenage heart is getting the same butterfly feeling I did when I saw my older cousins carrying around multicolor bags in the 2000s.
I am hearing got the new bags in this collection are not even leather. Is that true that they are just coated canvas? And that the original version was leather? If so, I will likely hold out and look for a vintage in great condition. I impatient so when prices come back down, I will snag one. Don’t think it’s worth it to pay that price for coated canvas if the original version is in leather and was a fraction of the price.
You know I should have said there are some pieces in collection that are leather. The speedy pieces (and others) which are most popular are canvas as original was.
Same as original…canvas.
Thank you for clearing that up Snibor. 😉
Love the pacts
Will a normal sized iPhone 14 fit in these?
Super adorable ! I love the white multi color so much.
Just picked up my Dauphne Soft GM, and the OnTheGo East West Chainfron pre-sale today! They are beautiful! So happy I was able to snag both!
The OnTheGo East West Chain….from the pre-sale…
Love to buy one of these the white lovely
wait Chapter 1?!?! so there will be other multicolor drops with different styles later? OMG. crossing fingers………….
Oh the little six year old girl inside me wearing her Easter best wants the white tiny speedy soooo baaad. What a sweet confection! I’ve loved these when they first came out and had just started my LV collection. I never bought any murakami because they are so deliciously gaudy and I just can’t pull it off. But I love them. After all these years I finally bought my first speedy. I’d resisted it because I wanted to be different. Stupid. It is the very best designed and beautiful bag ever. Love it in Damier ebene. Want the white murakami but will resist and love it from afar. Enjoy this cheerful collection
