I am far from nailing that French-girl style, you know, the one that people write books about and aspire to achieve. Many days, I probably look more like a French stereotype of an American mom (though I’m not entirely sure the French are spending much time thinking about what their American counterparts are wearing).
Still, between school drop-offs, pickups, work, errands, and sports, I know there are plenty of days when I could put a little more effort into my style.
Why I Always Come Back to Sézane
Whenever I want to feel more pulled together without overthinking it, I always come back to Sézane. To me, the French brand defines effortless Parisian style with quality wardrobe staples at a price point that feels refreshingly reasonable. Every time I find myself on the Sézane website, my virtual cart quickly fills with an entirely new wardrobe: new me, new look, ready to load.
While Sézane is best known for its blouses, coats, and trousers, I’ve been paying more attention to the brand’s expanding handbag line. Like everything Sézane does, the bags balance quiet luxury with thoughtful design.
My latest find, which has quickly become part of my daily rotation and serves as a reminder to put a bit more intention into how I’m walking out the door, is The Gary Bag.
Meet The Gary Bag
You see it too, don’t you?
It’s simple, it’s easy, and it manages to say so much while staying completely under the radar.
The Gary perfectly captures that blend of everyday ease and quiet elegance that Sézane does so well. Available in maxi and midi sizes, it moves effortlessly with you throughout the day, proving that practical can be chic when done the French way.
Each detail feels considered. The Gary is crafted in Sézane’s Italian atelier from smooth leather (with different finishes, including embossed croc and suede) with a split-leather lining that gives it a soft yet structured feel.
A gold-finish zamac ring offers just a touch of shine, while the double leather handles, adjustable with a collar button, make it comfortable to wear on the shoulder.
The hidden magnetic closure keeps the design clean and offers a slight difference in shape to the top of the bag. Inside, you’ll find both a zipped and a patch pocket for easy organization.

It’s the kind of bag that doesn’t scream for attention yet quietly elevates everything you wear. Both the midi and maxi versions of The Gary combine form and function, along with effortless elegance.
Price for the Midi is $370, and the Maxi is $430.
The Outfit That Sealed the Deal
And what did I need to do to take the bag to the next level? Put together a full outfit, naturally. While browsing, I landed on a few pairs of trousers and jeans that still give that French-girl energy I love. A simple T-shirt is always a yes from me.

And my pièce de résistance is the Will Jacket. This coat has been on my wish list for so long, in so many renditions, and I finally went with the Suede Olive Green. Now that I have it, I already want the Camel Suede as well.
With fall and the holidays fully upon us, these small tweaks to my wardrobe feel like a whole new me is being created —and I love it.

I love this entire look on you Megs!!
Thank you so much!! I do too, it is all super comfortable and looks good!
I just got back from Paris and this look speaks to my soul! I literally bought bags in both a camel suede and deep wine color from Sessùn. Such a nice addition to my collection of designer brands. French-girl bags= high quality, classic, unique, and affordable bags!
You could have been in any city in Europe or Scandinavia with that look. We all dress like that😂.
Then maybe it’s better to say European style!
I love the Will jacket! Bought it in camel suede last year and green twill this year. (Also, long camel suede coat.) Sezane is addictive!
I just discovered this brand about three years ago on a trip to Paris and came home with four or five blouses. (There are several stores/L’Appartements located throughout Paris and now making their way to the United States! ) And then the compliments started coming at home, here in California! “Where did you get that blouse! “ So over the course of the next year I added about five more. Purchasing from Sézane is easy. Free shipping and free returns, and if you purchase on Monday in all likelihood you’ll have it by Friday, delivered in a beautiful floral box and usually a branded tote bag thrown in as a free gift! And then I went to Paris again, I added a blazer, and then a coat. And when I got home, I felt bummed I didn’t buy more so I added a pair of pants and a couple more tops. And the beauty of Sézane is pretty much all of their clothing matches each other.
I have not bought a handbag of theirs yet because I do have a nice collection of designer bags that blend seamlessly with the style of clothing that I wear, the old and the new. But looking at this story makes me want to add a deep rust colored bucket bag for fall winter. And I already have clothes that will match! Merci Sézane!
The quality has drastically decreased though! From a Parisian girl 😉
I sadly agree. While they use to sell out new campaigns within the morning (Sundays) now there’s plenty which unfortunately means they’re cranking them out.
Just discovered this brand and bought two Justine Basket Bags. I love them!
