Somehow, Gucci never seems to go wrong with its huge line of handbags. For pre-fall, the brand delved into its vast creative archives to bring back the house’s Diamante leather in an array of bright colors.
The Diamante pattern was first created in the 1930s and enjoyed popularity through the 1950s, but it was only recently that creative director Frida Giannini rediscovered the classic design in the archives and resurrected it. The diamond pattern is subtly beautiful, and it adds the perfect amount of dimensionality to the bag. As the bag moves, you can see the varying texture as it hits the light, which is a great touch.
[vimeo 99268078 w=640 h=360]Gucci’s Diamante leather provides both a solid structure and a glossy, textured surface. Even though these bags are for pre-fall, Gucci didn’t refrain from using bright, eye-catching colors, hence the name Gucci Bright Diamante.
The line is a diverse offering which includes a shoulder bag, tote, bucket bag and clutch. The bucket bag is a personal favorite, as the material is strong enough to hold the bucket shape and resilient enough to be used for years to come. I was also lured in by the colors; a perfectly Caribbean turquoise caught my attention right away and has kept my heart ever since.
The Gucci Bright Diamante Collection is perfect for new fans of the brand and long-time Gucci lovers alike. This line echoes the accessory industry’s movement toward cleaner designs, and proves that Gucci continues to create handbags that fit every occasion. This line, in particular, is perfect for everyday use.
While this is a pre-fall collection, Gucci Bright Diamante is available immediately and perfect for summer. I’d opt for the tote for summer travels, the bucket for everyday use to add the right fashionable touch to your easy summer wardrobe, and the clutch for your summer weddings and nights out.
With that selection, there’s an option for everyone, and perhaps most importantly, the price point is great. The bags range from $1,150 for the clutch to $2,350 for the largest tote.
