While I do not subscribe to the ‘new year, new me’ spiel, I will happily adopt the idea of ‘new year, new bag.’ I mean, there’s no reason not to grab a new bag to try out (and in this case, fall in love with). I ended last year with a gift from Gucci, unboxing a bag that quickly made its way into my heart (and yours): the Gucci Large Shoulder Bag with Chain.
Now, I wish the name were better, because this bag stands on its own. She deserves a strong name, a name that signifies her beauty and strength. Something more than just descriptors of what the bag actually is. Sure, it is large and has a chain.
However, it’s so much more, and for that reason alone, I have six reasons why I quickly fell in love with this bag. I might even throw in a name for her at the end, because she deserves it.
My Love List to My New Gucci
1. It stops hearts at first glance.
Like true love, you don’t need the subtitles. One sighting and BAM, I was emotionally committed.
2. Sage suede with GG logo = quiet luxury, but make it stunning.
It’s like the bag whispered, “I’m fabulous and giving you everything you love, wrapped up in one pretty bag.”
3. The chain isn’t a strap, it’s art.
I’m pretty sure if I wore the bag with a T-shirt and leggings, the chain would still dress me up. Honestly iconic.
4. It’s basically a Mary Poppins bag.
Phone, wallet, lip gloss, five snacks, my emotional support water bottle, existential dread… it fits it all. I ask nothing more of a purse except maybe a bottomless espresso supply.
5. It’s stylish enough to make mirrors wink.
Every angle is a good angle.
6. Literally every follower lost their mind over it.

Don’t like the chain handle but I would like to have the dog!
I was thinking the same things – not crazy about the handle, and it looks so much better with the dog! 😀 (I actually like the chain itself, but the logo on the chain looks odd.)

The Giglio was love at first sight for me and now this bag is as well. I am headed to Italy for my son’s graduation present, and a visit Gucci is quickly becoming what I can’t wait to get over there for.
This bag is absolutely stunning – I will note, the strap is heavy. So while it holds a lot, I don’t plan to carry it for a long day of walking, it would start to feel heavy!
Wish the large gold chain had the option to remove – then I’d likely have purchased this bag. Always good to have options. I’m glad to see Chanel is starting to include more removable chains.
My heart is untouched
Too bad the chain isn‘t detachable. It could make a cute clutch, but the idea of the chain digging in my shoulder is quite painful. And the price is ridiculous.
Actually – agreed – wish it was removable and there was a lighter, leather strap option as well

I’ve been hot on Gucci since Nov 2024…..I bought 8 bags from them this year! This color is gorgeous, and the chain is pure art as you said! I might add this but I’m going on Saturday to see what the new collection looks like on me!
It’s a beautiful bag, but I could not get over the bag pulling forward and downward when carried – the engineering is off to me – reminds me of the MuseII I had from YSL. beautiful leather/design but not practical enough. I’m afraid things will fall out or be too exposed when the flaps are opened.

I think the design, the size, the print and the suede is really pretty. Not a fan of the chain. Also the price seems to high imo.
The chain would be an issue for me but… the rings at the base of the chain look pretty large. Have you tried taking a detachable leather strap from another bag and see if you can attach it to the rings. For example, I think the detachable strap from my LV Alma PM would work. (of course, that strap is black rather than grey but…). You might be able to then tuck the rest of the chain into the bag. Or just keep it outside as a special, extra large bag charm 🙂
