I still get a lot of messages about bags under $1,000, which unfortunately seems to be quite the feat in the bag market right now. However, over the past 20 years of running this site, I have had the opportunity to review thousands of bags in person, so I know a good bag when I see one. Although it may be harder to find, there are options available under $1,000, and I’ve rounded up the 20 best bags under $1,000 just in time for the holidays.
With suede still having a major moment (and being a personal favorite), there are several suede options included. There are also a few seasonal iterations, though they do have more classic counterparts. And for good measure, I threw in an actual novelty bag by way of the Cult Gaia Grape Bag, because why not?!
A few newer brands are featured alongside well-known ones, including Kate Spade, with its highly functional Duo Bag. I found this bag that is giving Hermès vibes at a fraction of the price (not a B or K vibe, but more of a casual canvas style).
This is our first bag gift guide of the season, and we have a few more to come! Happy bag shopping, everyone!

Thank you for this!!
The Row charging $940 for a thin, unlined suede sack is crazy…
Don’t get the red Cult Gaia grapes! The inside looks like polyps. And it chips easily by the hinge. I had to return mine to Sak’s. It’s beautiful in green. Love it but too fragile. Opt for the vase. It holds more too!
