Ferragamo’s Fall 2026 show opened to a dark show set, with dim runway lighting giving way to brighter pockets that revealed the collection. This season, Maximilian Davis continued to explore the 1920s, inspired by the decade’s glitz and glamour. Thus, the show set makes a lot of sense—an ode to the speakeasies that ruled the roaring twenties.
Furthering his inspiration was the idea that speakeasies were a place for all—conventional ideas of classicism and identity are set aside, and liberation is at play, and the ready-to-wear reflects this.
The Roaring Twenties and Speakeasy Glamour
The traditional sailor’s uniform served as a jumping-off point for the design process. The reasons behind this relation to the idea that sailors departed their homes and families in search of a better life, as the collection’s show notes described, were the same for Salvatore Ferragamo and Davis.
Elevated takes on workwear and utilitarian-inspired garments give way to fluid silks, gilded gold lame pieces, pleated georgette dresses, cocoon coats, and more. Modern and elegant, with nods to classic Ferragamo throughout, such as beautiful leather coats and Gancini hardware.
The bags were simple but distinctly Ferragamo. The Hug bag, one of Davis’ first bags for Ferragamo, has quickly proven itself a cornerstone design for the House, shining in bold red eel. Elsewhere, a slim clutch-meets-shoulder bag in smooth leather with a mini Gancini closure was casually tucked under the arm. A common theme throughout? The east/west silhouette.
