The debut of Fendi Men’s Spring 2024 collection was as good a time as ever to debut Fendi’s brand new Tuscan factory, which is located in the hillside town of Capannuccia, just outside of Florence. An innovative destination for design and leather craft, the new factory is dedicated to the fine leather goods and craftsmanship that Fendi is known for. This new chapter for the House is also an ode to its past, returning to its historic Florentine roots; Silvia Venturini Fendi’s grandmother Adele Fendi traveled from Rome to Florence to learn the art of leather craft almost a century ago.
The Inspiration Behind Fendi Men’s Spring 2024
Both the House of Fendi’s iconic roots and this new chapter inspired Silvia Venturini Fendi with the creation of this collection, and its innovative spirit is a testament to that. Ready-to-wear shapes are grounded in utilitarianism with a touch of elegance, and the Tuscan landscape inspired a color palette of mineral hues like terracotta, burnt umber, sage, and deep indigo.
Bags and accessories stand out in a league of their own, a playful exploration of the so-called ‘corporate artisan,’ showcasing Fendi’s storied craftsmanship. Fresh iterations of House staples like the Peekaboo and the Baguette sit alongside new bags like woven basket bags and raffia-trimmed weekenders. A new silhouette called the FENDI Chiodo, a sleekly-designed minimalist satchel, joins the lineup this season, complementing the various textures seen throughout, like raffia, and debossed scaled leather.
The collection also sees a partnership with Architect Kengo Kuma, who applied his ancient Japanese techniques and raw material craft to the Peekaboo, Bagauette, and Soft Trunk. View bags from the runway below, images courtesy of Fendi.
