Fendi’s Fall 2019 Couture Bags Are Everything Couture Bags Should Be

From Marvelous minis to intricate Baguette's, we've got a look at this stunning collection

A beautiful and elaborate ode to the late Karl Lagerfeld, Fendi showed its Fall 2019 Couture collection late last week in Rome. The show was set on Palatine Hill, and the location was an obvious choice for the brand as it both celebrated and strengthened the historical bond that Fendi has had with Rome since 1925. The quintessentially Italian city thrives on art and culture, and it’s these values, coupled with Lagerfeld’s influence, that inspired creative director Silvia Venturini Fendi.

Couture bags are expected to more extravagant than those shown alongside RTW collections—they are meant to be showy and ornate, they’re not meant for the everyday. These bags are everything that a couture bag should be. The Baguette was shown, of course, in a few different variations. There was fur, embroidery, beading and even tulle. A a sleek and structured chain clutch also appeared on the runway, featuring gold hardware and Fendi’s iconic double F logo in what looks to be rich exotics. But the standout piece, was clearly this mini baguette with handmade micro beading, which is truly a work of art in and of itself. View all of the bags below.
