Of all the world’s fashion capitals, Milan always has the most notable spunk to it. Italians call it sprezzatura, which implies a carelessness and ease that makes an aesthetic that might otherwise look like it was trying very hard instead feel natural and inherent in the culture. That extends to the runway bags at Milan Fashion Week every season, and for Spring 2018, there were some head-turners for sure.
My winners for the week were Prada and Gucci; both houses put out sprawling accessories collections that felt as fun as they were luxurious, and both stayed true to the brand’s look while still exploring new territory, which is always what I hope for from big names.
