Nobody does a runway show quite like Chanel, and if you can expect one thing it’s that the bags will always correlate to the season for which they are being shown. Case in point, Chanel’s Fall/Winter 2019 bags. Shearling was sprinkled throughout the collection on everything from classic flap bags and belt bags to an Aztec printed backpack. Then, there were the globe-like bags, which upon further investigation appear to be a tiny version of an enclosed ski lift. I’ll call it the Gondola bag, and it is as fabulous as the Chanel novelty purses that have come before it.
There was no shortage of winter white bags either, which perfectly complimented the snow-themed world that Chanel set for its Fall 2019 collection. The scene was serene and beautiful, an almost poetic dedication to Karl Lagerfeld. And while the scene itself was beautiful and elaborate the bags themselves played it mostly safe. Noteable favorites include a smooth leather flap bag as well as a quilted flap bag accented with tiny pearl detailing. A Reissue also appeared in a bright orange, which was a nice juxtaposition to the classic shape. View the entirety of the collection below.

Some of these bags are beautiful! However, I don’t understand #36 i.e. what is this shape? Also, the shearling trimmed and white bags would soil too easily, but I love the rest!
Bags 3, 19 and 36 they are the same bag but in different color and they are teleferik.
I don’t think they are “teleferik”. Cable cars are in San Francisco and gondola’s are at ski resorts.

telefrik in English cable car.
Honey, I live in Colorado where it snows and there are multiple ski resorts with gondola’s. I know what I’m talking about. I don’t need you to guide me to a dictionary!
I apologize if I sounded rude when I replied to you before. I’m sorry. I have been to ski resorts before (I hate going up the mountains). I have also ride the gondola lift few times before in different countries, but long time ago. Telefrik this what it called in Turkish. I did search online and it has many different names in English with images on top of every each name. Cable car, gondola lifts and so on. Sorry I didn’t want to bother you. Anyway. Take care and have a wonderful weekend.
Oh, # 36 is a gondola!
fabulous collection
Wow. I typically have something snarky and disparaging to say about most designers’ collections. Not this one. These bags and the accompanying outfits are elegant, gorgeous and appear beautifully crafted. Love them. Thanks, Karl. You outdid yourself. RIP.
Love most of the bags. Great collection.
LOVE the jackets.
Can’t afford them!
I did not want to like the orange color on #26, but each time I look at it, it is a lovely splash of color in a field of white and black.
Not feeling most of these. Maybe in person or a retail picture would make them more appealing. Also the “snow” as a background doesn’t photograph well with that bags and clothes. I think most people give it praise simply because it was Karls last. I think what he did at Fendi was better. The clothes were better.
aww – i loved both Fendi and Chanel because i <3 Karl
I liked the clothes more than the bags actually. Which is rare. I am definitely going to miss him.

I think that most people give it praise because several of these bags are beautiful. His legacy ended, but this collection exceeds many of his prior collections, IMO.
I said that about his Fendi collection. I said “its almost as if he knew it would be his last one”
It’s ok, but what you wrote is confusing and you are misquoting yourself. You commented that you “didn’t feel most of these” since the article discusses his last Chanel bag collection. Then, immediately you wrote “I think most people give it praise simply because it was Karl’s last”. Lastly, you discussed Fendi. I’m just pointing out what you wrote despite that you may have meant something else. No need to get defensive, no harm…no foul.
No. I meant I said that his Fendi collection exceeded his prior collections. I was saying I said what you said except I said it referring to his Fendi collection not this one. I’m not defensive. I just think tones don’t read well through text.
There’s always got to be one who who feels the need to go around telling people what they REALLY meant to say! A comment is an observation that comes from an individual! Good grief?! I understood exactly what you meant to say!
<3 oh god you should see what someone said to me on the “Friend buys a fake bag” article. You should take a look.
Wow! That’s telling you! I cannot believe she thinks a woman writer is better than a male writer! Last I checked, it’s 2018! But that’s femanazism, & that kind of thinking is rampant, today! Do NOT believe a word she says! Also – you ARE a good writer, & would have much to contribute, here.?
Really? I was pointing out what he wrote was confusing. I wasn’t attacking him or expressly telling him what he REALLY meant to say. He responded to me and explained his comments, which I appreciated. I’m not sure why you find it necessary to jump down everyone’s throat for making a comment to him that you disagree with? I don’t think he needs you to defend him when you perceive that he’s being attacked, when he wasn’t. You completely missed the point I was making. You don’t like people commenting negatively about what you write about so I don’t know why you do the same. Do you?
No? But you did say to him –
‘ I’m just pointing out what you wrote despite that you may have meant something else…’
You just suggested what he meant to write was not what he wrote. That sounds like you’re correcting him. I didn’t jump down everyone’s throat, just yours….& I apologize for that. What I don’t like is someone correcting what I or others have to say. I think we are ALL guilty of doing this. So – Instead of correcting what someone says, try simply asking what they meant to say…..like “could you please clarify that for me? I not sure I got your meaning! ” There is no perceived attack, this way. Correcting people makes them feel inferior. I don’t think we do this intentially, though. But – it’s a bad habit, all the same!
Also, I cannot say enough, that it’s okay to agree, to disagree. Our society is having a hard time with this, right now. What we need is a return to the days where we celebrated & admired people for being different from ourselves! We used to be those kind of people, before social media took over our lives, & hyjacked our good manners, our relationships, our thoughts & opinions, that we used to keep to ourselves, but now throw out there in the form of a comment on a blog post. We could all work on this, practicing mindfulness (becoming more aware)?
The clothes are outstanding!
I adore the matching fabric handbags. So chic.

This seems to be a theme across the board in most designers. Personally, at 5’2″ – I always look my best when wearing the monochromatic look! ?
Oh my! I love #15 in the navy blue fabric and #37 in the houndstooth fabric! I want either one badly!
Maybe it’s just me, but some of these bags look dated.
Anyway…I love the bracelet in slide 3 and the necklace in slide 31. The only two bags that I like somewhat are in slides 12 and 31.
Well now u not miss ur grandma ash since it is a trend to wear it as a bag..
Slide #19 is my favorite! I love the gondola in teal, matching the teal sweater. This is what I’d call a winter get-away in Chanel land! Maybe Karl had 1 foot in heaven, when creating his would be last masterpiece. Did you notice the fogged up windows in the gondola bag, with an “xo” inscribed on it?
Some of these bags look so cozy I want to curl up and go to sleep inside them!
Love the materials! Houndstooth, bring it on!!!
