It must be somewhat comforting to be a Chanel shopper. Season to season, the house might try a new launch that doesn’t quite work or trot out a half-baked theme for a collection, but at its heart, Chanel is always Chanel, and always assertively so—Karl Lagerfeld has built an aesthetic universe for himself and his clients that, at this point, does not change in foundational ways. Chanel is Chanel, and it’s firmly Chanel for Fall 2018, the bags from which have arrived in boutiques now.
Other than the Chanel 31 Bag, which we covered in detail previously, this collection doesn’t have a lot of tricks up its sleeve. It’s full of petite Boy Bags and Gabrielle Hobos (which seem to be gaining traction among the brand’s shoppers every season) in solidly autumnal colors, plus plenty of exotics. Yes! Which is why I will likely only ever own a classic flap. The rest is too trendy for the cost.
Outrageous prices but Chanel should maybe consider create their own factories in Italy instead of working with subcontractors.
They should maybe reintroduce old styles like the Mademoiselle and some other big hits. The 31 bag looks too vintage for my taste…

I LOVE the unquilted bags like #2. I also adore the fabric bags. So elegant and tasteful. Lots of gorgeous, wearable options here but prices now out of my range.
The boy bags are always cute. The Hobo with quilted bottom and Chanel tweed are nice. Also the like the framed box clutches and I forgot the rest already.
Wow, my Urban Spirit backpack was $3700.00 I believe three years ago, now $4900.00! I love Chanel but I am sure glad I have already purchased several at this point. I really need a camera bag though! LOL!

Thank God I bought a classic medium flap in 2007 for $2450! I can’t afford any of this at today’s prices.
Very nice collection. I’m not a fan of anything Gabrielle, but everything else is right up my alley. I love the clutches this fall too. Also, Chanel backpacks are the bomb, I have 2 and couldn’t live without them.

People outside of Purseblog world would seriously question the sanity of anyone wishing to spend this kind of money on bags. But in here, we call $2,000 for a handbag reasonable. Our sense of ‘normal’ gets warped. Herr Karl turns us into Alices in Purse-Wonderland.

I like the direction they are going in with the totes. The fabric bags are fugly! I never liked the boy bags or flap bags but I have found myself suddenly liking the small boy bags as a cross body. I think anytime you get a high end quality bag beyond the $2500 range you are getting great quality. Not sure the extra $2500-5000 for the Chanel “name” is really worth it. Just my thoughts.. I guess supply and demand.
