Nobody does a show quite like Chanel. Period.
Inspired by the art of the fashion show, Virginie Viard and the team at Chanel put on a presentation that exuded the fun side of fashion, which has proven to be a theme this season. Models strutted down the runway in a parade-like way, surrounded by photographers as viewers were transported back to the heightened emotions and magic of the fashion shows in the 1980s. As for the collection itself? It featured plenty of odes to past eras in fashion, like high-waisted 90s swimsuits with a sporty feel, worn under fishnet skirts, and with capri pants. It perfectly captured the energy and joy that we very much need right now, balancing the graphic starkness of black and white with playful summer prints.
The bags were no less playful or fun than the entire production itself, complimenting the collection as a whole. There were pops of color like pink, yellow, and pastel purple shown alongside neutrals like black and white. Chains remain an integral detail on handbags, and there was no shortage of wearable, consumer-friendly handbags this season. Even the novelty bags, like all-over beaded pearl bags and heart-shaped quilted crossbodies, were on the more wearable side. View bags from the runway below. Images via Chanel.

The stitching is coming out at the bottom on the pink heart bag on look 10. What happened to quality control?
Chanel under VV is so lame, she just can’t create the sort of excitement that Karl could
I feel like Chanel is getting boring day by day 🙁
Same old, same old…
