For Celine’s Spring 2020 Bags, Hedi Slimane Focuses On Its Triomphe Logo

The 'C' bag was noticeably absent this season

Paris Fashion Week may be over but we’re still catching up on detail images from fashion’s most anticipated collections, and today we’re taking a look at Hedi Slimane’s latest bags for Celine. It was just last year at this time that Slimane made his runway debut for the designer. Fans of the brand were introduced to a brand new Celine, and now a year later it seems that Slimane has found his footing, choosing to focus on new designs and a new direction for the brand. This season, Slimane took us back in time, introducing bohemian designs, reminiscent of a Parisian girl from the 60s and 70s. Bags featured suede, fringe, buckles and tapestry prints.

There was no sign of the Celine C bag on the runway, but rather Slimane chose to focus largely on the logo introduced on the brand’s Triomphe bag. The logo appeared in many different iterations on the Spring 2020 runway, and though the classic Triomphe bag did appear, a brand new bag was introduced as well. Called the Chain Maillon Trimomphe this new shape appeared in a few different versions. There were beautiful exotics and even a suede fringe version, indicating that this bag is going to be a big push for the brand come 2020. Another notable new shape, called the Camarat Bag was introduced, which posses an effortless Parisian-bohemian vibe. Shaped like a half moon with a belt buckle like closure, this saddle bag appeared in hair calf, smooth leather and printed fabric versions. The bags as a whole possess an effortlessly casual vibe, which is an interesting direction for Slimane to take, coming off of his first design for the brand, the Celine 16 bag, which was more structured and a bit dressier.
