The fashion industry has made massive strides over the last decade when it comes to inclusivity both on and off the runway, and no longer is the fashion month bag-watching strictly one-sided. Designers have chosen more androgynous models, showing collections that are either completely gender-neutral or showcasing men’s and women’s collections in tandem, proving that we can all wear whatever it is that we want.
Luxury designers have been at the forefront of the movement. Bottega Veneta’s latest It-Bag is just another step towards clothing and accessories no longer seen and/or marketed as for men or women only. Yes, we’re talking about the new Andiamo Bag.
Launched last month, the Andiamo Bag has already become a favorite of fashion street-style stars and celebs alike. A tribute to the idea of going places, the bag’s classic shape and unmistakable Intrecciato weave, have stolen the hearts of many already, including none other than Euphoria‘s Jacob Elordi.
The Internet’s Abuzz
Earlier this week, Jacob Elordi was seen carrying the new Bottega Veneta Andiamo bag in its Medium size in the deep chocolate brown color called fondant while out and about in West Hollywood. The image sent the fashion side of the internet in a tailspin, with one popular style account after the next re-posting the image and proving that all bags can also be for the boys.
Firstly, it’s not a “street style stars favorite” if they’re being gifted the bag and paid to wear it. Maybe do your research first. Secondly, aesthetically speaking the bag doesn’t fit the bill. An old lady handbag on a cool young looking guy?… I think not. The brand is trying way too hard to push this bag it’s pathetic. Mind blowing to boot that they’re pricing it like $6500 CAD.
Hi Pinksky777! Just curious how you know that Jacob was gifted the bag and being paid to wear it? Are you his stylist? If so, you did a great job on the styling here. Love the juxtaposition of the high end bag with a more chill, athleisure look. Impressed you have all the time to comment on here in between fittings and mood boards. Who says we can’t do it all?!
I do appreciate the artistry of the intrecciato and wish this bag had a wider shoulder strap —if it did I’d be REALLY tempted to buy it! That being said, it looks like Jacob is carrying his Mom’s bag in this photo! Not the vibe of his “look”…
The term “it bag” is being thrown around too loosely these days….
The bag doesn’t look unisex to me at all. It is beautiful though.
He’s holding two drinks in his hand. I think the bag belongs to the person who is drinking the second drink.
I was thinking the same. It looks very feminine. Looks like he’s carrying his female partner’s bag.
It also looks feminine to me, but even if it’s his and we leave gendering aside, the bag looks too dressy for his outfit. He’s wearing ultra-casual clothes but it’s not an ultra-casual bag. He looks like he came from or is headed to the gym. Something like a LV Keepall (in logo or plain leather) or some kind of backpack would be more in tune with the general vibe in this photo. Overall, the bag is nice but a) shoulder straps are too thin and b) it’s overpriced.
Thank you for elaborating how this look doesn’t work. I am 100% in agreement but I didn’t do the work to spell it out.
Yes, sometimes I’ll ask my hubby to hold my bag and he will, but he comments that it’s too effeminate.
Yikes. What a sad way to look at the world. You should educate yourself about gender.
Actually, I don’t. I had an opinion and stated it. You’re being melodramatic. It’s an opinion about a piece of animal skin not an assault on world peace. Grow up. Not everyone is going to agree on everything.
Actually you do. Because clearly you are prejudiced and refusing to grow by learning something outside of your confort zone. Especially telling on such an important day for Trans rights. 🏳️⚧️
You are taking her (Fashionable Lena’s) comment out of context and putting your own spin on it. If she has an opinion about a bag and gender it doesn’t make her prejudiced, etc. Not everything is black and white. It’s sad to categorize her comment as negative and malformed when it isn’t. You don’t know her so it’s unfair to make such a statement. While, I don’t know her either, I’ve read many of her comments & she’s an educator with an open mindset. Give her some grace.
Oh please… who cares about antiquated stereotypes and norms about gender: It’s 2023!
Anyway you slice it. This look does not work.
Not enough logos for you? Lol
Well this was odd…
