In the modern digital age, shopping for luxury goods has become easier than ever. With just a few simple clicks, a new sleek handbag or cool new pair of sneakers can be on the way to your doorstep faster than your morning cappuccino takes to make.
Of course, this has changed the way we shop, and in many ways, luxury boutique shopping has become a lost art. Luisaviaroma hopes to revive it by opening a sprawling new location in New York, the Italian brand’s first-ever physical location outside Italy.
Situated on Bond Street in New York’s NoHo neighborhood, just across the street from New York staple BondST and celeb hotspot Zero Bond, the location could not be more perfect for bringing the art of Italian luxury shopping to New York.
A New Way to Shop Luisaviaroma
Home to more than 500 of the world’s most-wanted luxury brands, Luisaviaroma has been our go-to digital destination for years. Its arrival stateside was both exciting and enticing, and last week, Luisaviaroma invited us in to get the full LVR in-person shopping experience, complete with a gift card to select a new bag (more on that later!)
Immediately upon entering the space, it is evident the attention to detail and thought that went into designing the expansive two-story boutique. The intent, of course, is to go in and shop, but the boutique almost feels like a gallery, and at every turn, there is something to see.
While Luisaviaroma’s online offerings are expansive, in-store, the brand offers a highly curated selection of about 70 brands spanning women’s and menswear. There is a distinct focus on niche luxury brands that speak to the classic New Yorker, such as Proenza Schouler, Maison Margiela, Jil Sander, Valextra, Acne Studios, Toteme, and more.
The brand’s buys are well-thought-out, and the store is invitingly styled by looks rather than by brand, with the idea of introducing clients to new labels. Shelving showcases an exciting selection of bags and accessories.
Within the store’s lower level, you’ll find a selection of evening wear and an inviting sitting area designed to host VICs and private appointments.
To Have and to Hold
The store’s selection of bags offers a nice mix of under-the-radar brands and those that are top-of-mind alike. Of course, it was the bags that I gave the most attention to, and I knew it would be a bag that my gift card would go towards. Like the ready-to-wear, the store’s selection of bags is expertly curated, and as soon as I entered the store, I spotted a handful of bags that we’ve covered but I’d yet to see in person.
Immediately, I gravitated towards Savette, especially the Symmetry Pochette, which I’d been lusting for for a long time. However, I couldn’t pull the trigger without checking out other bags. While the Maison Margiela Mini 5AC did entice me, there were three serious contenders on my list, and I took them downstairs to compare and contrast.
I have been obsessed with the boho resurgence following Chemena Kamali’s first collection for Chloé and was surprised by how much I liked the look and feel of the Chloé Bracelet Bag in person. It’s quintessentially Chloé, and while I considered this bag, there is a part of me that’s not quite boho enough to make it work in my wardrobe.
A bag I didn’t expect to like so much was the Valextra Iside Mini in a jewel-toned green hue. It’s distinct and offers a true if you know, you know appeal. Ultimately, I’ve wanted the Savette Symmetry Pouch for too long not to leave with it in hand. I opted for the suede version in a beautiful brownish, olivey hue called mink.
There’s something to be said about the entire process of luxury shopping in person, but nothing beats the final act: the instant gratification of leaving a store with your new purchases in hand.

Say more about this suede shirt and trench please!!! LOVE them.
Thank you! Both are from my personal vintage collection! The suede shirt is from Dammi Vintage, and the cream trench is Praino for Bergdorf Goodman.
I love your choice and your overall look. You’re so right too– there’s nothing better than the in-person shopping experience, especially when you leave with an exciting purchase.
