Today’s the first day of July, and summer’s hottest days are still in front of us. That means a lot of skin is going to get exposed to the harsh light of day in the next two months, and there’s no reason to look like you just got taken out of your winter mothballs. (Also, there’s no reason to feel like it–dry skin is itchy.)
I’ve talked about my constant battle against dry skin in the past, and my favorite way to stave off flakes during warm weather is with a scented body oil. Not only is the moisture payoff better than lotion of cream, but the warmth of your skin in the sun brings out the scent, which sticks around better than traditional perfumes. Below, check out five of my favorites.
Ahava Dry Oil Body Mist
$40 via Nordstrom
Many oils have warm, musky scents, so if you prefer something a little different, this is an optimal way to go. Plus, Ahava’s moisturizing products are all top-notch.
Elizabeth & James Nirvana Black Body Oil
$60 via Sephora
Body oils have become popular enough that there’s likely one that pairs with your favorite perfume; this one is mine.
L’Occitane Almond Soothing and Beautifying Supple Skin Oil
$44 via Sephora
This body oil has a near-perfect rating and nearly 600 reviews, so if you’re looking for a place to start experimenting, this is a solid one.
Moroccanoil Dry Body Oil
$48 via Nordstrom
If you, like me, have always wished you could slather your whole body in Moroccanoil’s incredible-smelling hair products, now you can. (The moisture payoff is pretty great, too.)
Neutrogena Light Sesame Body Oil
$8.39 via Drugstore.com
Drugstore products rarely feel as luxurious as their more expensive counterparts, but this one passes every test–It’s incredibly moisturizing and smells fantastic.
