Though every season is virtually the same length in days and months, it’s not hard to argue that while summer always seems to fly, winter feels like it just never ends. We should be past the thick of it with March finally on the horizon, but Mother Nature always likes to remind us who’s boss, so don’t hold your breath waiting for spring just yet.
I say this with certainty as here in New York City, we’ve just emerged from one of the biggest East Coast blizzards in recent memory. That said, a winter survival kit has been necessary this year, and I’ve been relying on the 5 products below. Some, like scents and shades, bring me pure joy, while others I’ve grown to live out of pure necessity—pricey hand cream, I’m looking at you.
VIOLETTE_FR Bisou Blush Marbled Cream Blush Stick
While it’s hard to find joy in the cold, blustery weather that comes with winter in New York, one thing about being out in the cold that’s nice is the rosy glow it gives your cheeks! Unfortunately, when you warm up, the glow disappears, but this exact blush (in the shade Inès) gives you the look all day long!
I discovered this blush while living in Paris this fall when I needed to replace the more coral-hued blush I wear in the summer. Let me tell you, I was very excited to find that Sephora sells it here in the States! It’s perfectly creamy, blends beautifully, and lasts all day.
Rhode Peptide Lip Tint
I’ve unintentionally become a Rhode stan after my friend was gifted several items from Hailey Bieber’s beauty brand and gave me three different shades of her viral peptide lip tint. Salty tan, a soft mauvy pink, is the perfect warm tone for winter months. Plus I love that the formula feels hydrating and not sticky like many other glosses and lip tints. I finally understand the hype.
Dior Forever Nude Bronzer
As a no-makeup makeup girl, I’ve not worn foundation a day in my life, I swear by a dab of concealer and blush for the most part. Still, with the lack of vitamin D my face receives in the winter, I need to add a little bit of life to my complexion. That’s where Dior’s bronzer comes in, which has been my go-to for years. The compact used to be quilted white, so I’m not sure if the formula recently changed as well, but nonetheless, it’s still my tried and true!
Le Labo The Noir 29
Where there’s a warm tone, there must also be a warm, musky scent for winter, and that’s why I will never stop raving about Le Labo’s The Noir 29. It has hints of musk, bergamot, cedarwood, and more. While I do wear this year-round, I reach for it more in the winter, when my lighter, more floral perfumes sit untouched. I’m on my 3rd or 4th refill by now, I’ve lost count!
Chanel La Crème Main
While I absolutely would not have bought this for myself now that I’ve been gifted it, I will say it is entirely worth the splurge, and I’ll likely replace it when it runs out. The scent is floral, but lightly so, not overpowering, and it absorbs quickly into the skin.

The Chanel hand cream is imo the worst cream I have ever used.
My sentiment exactly – there are so many better and cheaper versions out there! I don´t like the texture or the scent or the fact that a substantial amount was still in there that I could not use up and had to throw away.
