PurseBlog Beauty: Amanda’s 10 Fall 2015 Beauty Favorites

Beauty changes with the weather just like clothes and bags do, and over the past couple months, I’ve done a lot of tinkering with my makeup and skincare routines in order to ready myself for the impending cold air and ward off last year’s dry skin, as try some new cosmetics I’ve been curious about. Unfortunately for my wallet, those changes have been a rousing success. (I made Sephora VIB Rouge this year.)

Not all products are created equal, though, and several of my new acquisitions have pulled ahead of the pack. Below, check out the stuff that’s really working for me right now; may it ward off dry winter skin, dullness and disappointing eyelashes for you as well.

Becca x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop
$38 via Sephora

Real talk: I just bought this because I’d seen so many of my beauty-obsessed friends tweet about it. I’d never used a highlighter and didn’t think I needed one, but I am, at heart, a bit of a lemming when it comes to makeup. I’m so glad I picked one up; it makes you look glowing and luminescent, even in low light. (If you’re new to highlighter, dust a little on your cheekbones with a soft brush.)

Clarins HydraQuench Intensive Serum Bi-Phase
$59 via Macy’s

When it comes to skincare, I’m a big fan of layering instead of hoping that one product will solve all your problems. I’ve already told you guys about my holy grain winter moisturizer, and putting this light-but-super-moisturizing serum on underneath it helps boost my moisture levels even more. If you don’t already have some hyaluronic acid in your routine, this is a great way to get it.

Clinique Superbalm Lip Treatment
$16 via Macy’s

Keeping your lips moisturized not only protects them, but it helps lipstick adhere and last. This stuff is legendary, and I can see why.

Farmacy Hydrating Coconut Gel Deep Moisture Sheet Masks
$24 via Sephora

If you’ve been neglecting your skin a bit and need a big dose of moisture to get you back to square one, one of these is the way to go. If I had unlimited dollars, I’d put one on my face every day. They adhere well and pack a ton of moisture without making you greasy afterward.

First Aid Beauty Milk Oil Conditioning Cleanser
$26 via Sephora

I hate washing my face in the morning because I always wake up dryer than I went to sleep, but this stuff is gentle and makes me feel more moisturized than before I use it. Because it has oil in it, I also sometimes use it at night as the first step in my double-cleansing routine.

Guerlain Maxilash Intense Volumizing Mascara
$30 via Sephora

I bought several mascaras at once in an effort to find a new one I loved when my tube of Chantecaille ran out, and once I got used to the short, nylon bristles on this stuff’s brush, it was the clear winner. Thickening, lengthening and very dramatic.

Hourglass Ambient Bronzer
$50 via Sephora

Not only is this bronzer very pretty and airbrushed-looking, but it has an enormous color payoff. Use a very light hand with it. It will last you forever.

Origins Mega Mushroom Skin Relief Micellar Cleanser
$30 via Sephora

Micellar water is a trendy makeup remover for a reason: it’s extremely gentle and non-drying but still gets your makeup off quickly and cleanly.

Peter Thomas Roth FirmX Peeling Gel
$48 via Sephora

This isn’t the first time I’ve extolled this stuff’s virtues, but it really is great. Now that the weather has turned dry, it still leaves me feeling smooth and freshly exfoliating without the drying and tightness of so many powerful exfoliators.

Pixi Glow Tonic Toner
$33 via Sephora

After a little trouble-shooting in my skincare routine, I realized that the toner I used last winter had contributed to some of my drying problems. I switched to this British cult favorite, which is alcohol-free but still has powerful ingredients like glycolic acid and witch hazel, and things have been a lot better.
