The Last of Atlanta’s Marvelous May Bags in the Wild

What do a denim-designer, a chic mother-daughter duo, and a designer-toting trio all have in common?

Bags in the Wild Atlanta End of May 2023 17

Memorial Day has come and gone, and with it comes our last BITW installment of what feels like a whirlwind month for the Atlanta handbag scene.

Each day of shooting has brought with it surprise after surprise, with labels and silhouettes rarely seen on the streets of ATL making bold and show-stopping appearances. From a dainty pink Mini Hermès Evelyne to my first IRL Prada Raffia Tote-spotting, this last installment of May BITW is certainly not the least.

Vintage Coach, besties carrying designer bags, and a surprise appearance by denim designer, Sydnie K. West, this last installment is already challenging for my favorite from the month of May. Aside from the usual Chanel Flap and Dior Saddle Bag sightings, this past week brought a to-die-for LV Capucines, a touch of Miu Miu, and lots of Spring/Summer OOTD- inspo.

Whats with just wearing a bra or showing it off? Or wearing a dark colored bra under a light colored top? Even if it gets up to 40C summer heat here we never do that. No class at all. Thats why its classified as undergarment because its supposed to be worn under something else and not on its own.

charlottawill

I believe it’s a bandeau top not a bra. From one of the fashion mags:

“Bandeau tops are a great layering piece for any outfit. Wear underneath a jacket for a plain base layer, or underneath a sheer top for more coverage. There are tons of ways to style this simple top.”

It’s not a look I’d wear but she looks pulled together in the Atlanta heat.

Gigi

She can wear whatever she wants but she does not “look pulled together” whatsoever.

Megs Mahoney Dusil

That’s how you choose to dress, which is totally your prerogative! You can wear a light colored undergarment that does not show under your shirt and be buttoned as much as you’d like. People’s personal style choices do not need to align with your own. Just because you wouldn’t wear it, doesn’t make it classless.

Sam

Remember this when your daughter wears that to school or the mall! Ha!

Megs Mahoney Dusil

Well, school has dress rules, so that wouldn’t happen at school. And the mall… we will cross that bridge when we get there! But my daughter and what she wears is different than a grown adult and what she chooses to wear 🙂

King Charles' Inkpot

Megs, thanks for articulating this the way you did. This site is SO hard to navigate nowadays (tPF too), because somehow it became okay to “say what you mean, and say how you feel” even though it’s mean-spirited, judgmental, and just all-out ghoulish.
Bags in this post are straight fire, though. That’s what keeps me coming back, the love for bags, which is what this site was always about.

Megs Mahoney Dusil

I don’t like to see it – because I think majority of the time when we dress ourselves and go out, we do it because we feel nice about what we put on. I’m not here to judge that, even if I personally wouldn’t wear or carry something, doesn’t mean there is something wrong with it!

I want people to feel happy and proud about their bags and style, that is what this site is for!

Sallymae

What’s with the ageist comment?

Marcia

I’m all for body-positivity and self-expression but… I agree with you. There are ways to embody these values without breaking all rules of decorum because you want attention, as we see in the other lovely pictures above.

ladyet

the but means you’re not “all for” either of those things, Marcia

CeCe

decorum as a word has lost all it’s meaning after recent events. also, everything before a but is meaningless.

J B

What recent events?

Harb

Honey… It’s Atlanta. Culture, style, different ways of expressing one’s self that may not be suitable for you personally or in your place of residence… Kindly stop dictating the way people express themselves and try to become a bit more open minded about things that may not suit you, but suit others. No one asked of your opinion, which, mind you, is no one’s business but your own. Sit with it and get over it. This is a prime example of why we are so far behind in accepting the people that support our communities. Judgement of this kind is just as classless.

Gayle

So its style then if you just wear a bra and undies in public? Hahaha ok thats your opinion

Samantha Stevens

Louis Vuitton LV + Fendi FF + Hermès H all in one outfit… That’s sure recipe for tacky.

ladyet

This comment is tacky too, so what do we do now?

FashionableLena

If the original poster had not made this comment, I would have never noticed. It took me three tries to find the picture. I actually had to zoom in on the top.

ladyet

some folks going out of their way to nitpick at that woman’s style specifically…pains them to see a woman with her style sense have access to the same things they wield as exclusionary, gatekeeping status symbols.

TelfarLover

You’re full of assomptions and stereotypes. Every time you comment, it’s for attacking other posters who are simply expressing their opinion.

ladyet

I’ve got a condo in your head, babes. Kisses for my biggest fan. 💋

(Somehow calling a photo of a random stranger isn’t attacking, but me calling that person out is. I’m begging you to make it make sense.)

Kyle Mark

The way I bought that coach from poshmark as soon as I saw this post go live I’m so sorry to anyone else who wanted it

Julie B

Good for you! I just looked in my closet and found that bag in two tone browns! I bought it new years ago! WooHoo!

Plinkie

The 3 ladies in the last photo look lovely

Joan

Yes! Super stylish, elegant, and beautiful!

Allegra

YAWN. Can we kill the Atlanta posts yet? The only two exciting bags in the first photo. That is 30 seconds of my life I will never get back.

Yazmin Sinclair

This.

Bir

very weird evelyne …………….. very cool ostrichcapuccines

Yazmin Sinclair

The Evelyne is a fake. Disappointing….:(

Seagreen20

Agreed…the green, ostrich I think, Capucines is gorgeous!

vnex

The ladies in the last picture are lovely and I really like the clothes of the ladies wearing flap bags. I do not like the total denim outfits nor that Fendi yellow jacket.

Terri

Does anyone know what color the Hermès Evelyne is?
The 3 ladies look great!

claudia

The Evelyne looks like a fake, the strap and the tab closure looks off. Am surprised the purseblog owners didn’t catch it before the photos were published.

Anja

I showed it to my SA. She said it is indeed a fake, and not a very good one according to her.

Professional Business

You have a lot of time on your hands and your SA sounds bored.

Terri

Thanks for the clarification!

Corylynn

I think all the ladies look fabulous! Anything goes these days, except maybe wearing a Halloween costume.

Tania

I’ve enjoyed these visits to Atlanta and seeing the variety of bags, people and style.

But can we have a Purseforum Round Up again?.

I miss seeing what our Purseforum members are using everyday.

Megs Mahoney Dusil

Yes, will work on one for next week!

Irene

What is the name of the little tan suede bucket bag that comes after the Hermes Evelyne TPM?
