Many moons ago, the It-Bag, or It-clutch if you will, to have was the Alexander McQueen Knuckle Clutch. Featuring details integral to the House and unmistakeably McQueen, that clutch will forever ooze a certain nostalgia for the early aughts. Over a decade after Lee Alexander McQueen passed, the brand remains a mainstay in the fashion world and is still beloved.
Although we don’t regularly cover Alexander McQueen’s bags, there have been a few notable releases over the last few seasons. I’ve always loved the McQueen aesthetic as it’s truly unique, giving a sort of goth-chic vibe that differentiates itself from the pack. Today, we’re looking at the latest big push from the brand, which feels inherently McQueen but with a feminine touch.
Spotlighting a House Emblem
The Alexander McQueen seal is an iconic emblem for the House, rooted in nature, it was created based on the silhouette of a Tudor rose spliced and features the initals of the House. For Autumn/Winter 2023 it takes center stage on the Seal Bag, which was introduced for pre-collection and is quickly becoming a new classic for the House with its rounded edges, and feminine curves.
True to its name, both the bag itself and the hardware of the bag play on this important House motif. Crafted of soft quilted leather that subtly shows off the House’s Initals, the bag is finished with a McQueen seal closure and a chain strap that can be worn over the shoulder or crossbody.
Introduced in a smaller size this fall, the Seal family includes the orignal as well as the new Small Seal bag, which is more compact, but still versitile. Available in two sizes and a wide array of bold colors from grass green and blood red to neutrals like white and black, the hardware pops in either silver or gold depending on the color. Global Talents with the New Bag
Alexander McQueen brand ambassadors have already been spotted with the bag as well. It’s only fitting for friends of the House to be the first to try a bag, but the other reason we like to see it is because it gives us a view of the bag on someone, and that gives life to the bag as well.
