It’s rare that a designer with as big of a name and as much of a reputation for trend-setting as Proenza Schouler makes anything that is both functional and reasonably affordable, which is why Megs and I have been fans of the Proenza Schouler PS1 Wallet since the very beginning. It was originally planned as a limited edition piece to celebrate the launch of Proenza’s web store, but they were so popular that the brand has been producing the wallets ever since, most of them at the very reasonable price of $165.

You may think that the dawning of spring is an odd time to be launching this accessory in a suede version, but over the past couple of years, suede has become more of an all-season option than just something that should be reserved for cooler weather. Plus, it’s just a wallet, so it’s not like including suede in your outfit in this way is going to make you sweat.

A word of caution, though – these pieces are best appreciated by those who don’t love the bulk of a normal wallet. The design has just one interior compartment and one open back pocket, instead of the zippers and card slots that most of us are used to. As a place to keep cash and receipts, which is what I use mine for, it’s a great option. I have a separate card holder that I’ve been using for years, so a pouch like this solves a problem without any redundancy. Perfect! Buy through Proenza Schouler for $165 in 10 different colors of suede!
