Every season brings with it a raft of bag trends, some of which are easier to spot than others. For Spring 2017, the obvious one that most brands and retailers have seized on is statement bags–after all, those pieces make for striking advertisements and editorials, which makes them attractive to the people deciding which bags you’ll see the most while going about your everyday life. Those top-line trends aren’t always the most wearable or shopper-friendly drifts in the market, though–to find those, you have to look a little closer. That’s what we’re here for, of course, and it’s shaping up that metallic bags will be the most wearable trend of the season.
Metallics can go a little Coastal Florida Retirement Community if the designer working with them isn’t careful, but this season, most brands have either stuck with the high-shine glamor of mirrored patent or gone to a grittier place, with pebbled leathers that just barely shimmer. There’s also no big color story within the metallics trends–things range from gunmetal to silver so pale it’s almost white, as well as gold of both the conventional and rose varieties and metallic versions of colors not usually thought of for such a finish.
