Will this micro trend stick around?

The novelty bag you never knew you needed, satin purses are the latest micro trend we’ve got our eyes peeled for. Playful in nature and perfect for the post-pandemic era we’re all eyeing, our friends over at Lyst are reporting a 104% increase in searches for satin bags. While the pickings are still on the smaller side, this season we were able find a small variety of options out there, and as the demand continues to grow, more designers will soon be adding this unlikely material to their assortments. As we wait to see this trend expand, we’ve rounded up a the options that are currently out there right now.

No. No no no no no no no no. They are way too precious. They do not “wear” well like a beautiful aged leather bag, one tiny snag and that bag is toast. And even if you say, oh I’m only getting it as an evening bag so I will be able to baby it for special occasions, if your dress or jacket have any type of embellishment it will snag your bag faster than your tights will get a run! No.

Oh, hell no! These will be impossible to keep clean.

Melsoldera will claim she predicted this ? but I’ve heard about satin bags making a comeback for a whillle now and it’s honestly the dumbest thing. They’re impossible to care for and they’re not even cute enough to keep up with the hassle tbh.

Yes, she predicted it in January 2021after she purchased two of them. I think satin bags are pretty, but I can’t stand the feel of the material. My Mom carried one years & years ago. She loved it, but found it impossible to keep clean or from snagging.

Tana

lol The Row made satin bags like 6 years ago.

Justice

These bags are just ugly.

Way, way too inconvenient. I’m all in favor of not-pristine bags, you won’t see me baby them at all, but satin snags easy even when babied and one snag just ruins the bag like lalarey said, it is so obvious because in the middle of the satin you’ll see that line easier than a scratch or scuff on a leather bag.

Even in clutches I cringe when I see it. Wouldn’t even pay cheap prices, because I’m not interested in bags that might be unusable (to me) in one wear or two. I’m not into waste like that.

Plus, the look isn’t so amazing as to make it worth it either.

Imagine spilling something, yeah this is a nope

Between eating eggs Benedict without a care in the world and carrying a satin bag to go eat such eggs, I choose eggs Benedict with plenty of Hollandise sauce.
