After a period of uncertainty about the whereabouts of Catherine, The Princess of Wales, an announcement was shared today from Kate herself that she was diagnosed with cancer.
The British Royal Family had announced her planned abdominal surgery a few months ago and stated she wouldn’t return until Easter, and the recent update is one few expected.
We wish Kate well and send positive thoughts and healing during her health journey.
British Designers and More
In the meantime, I wanted to look back at the many bags of Kate Middleton. Catherine, Princess of Wales, supports British brands often, with one of the most notable moments being her Alexander McQueen wedding dress.
Her bag choices have always melded seamlessly into her ensemble versus being the main attraction. While it doesn’t seem that Princess Kate uses her bags to signal in the same manner as the Queen did, each still feels like a well-planned part of her outfit.
Kate’s Chanel bags differed from the usual Mulberry, Strathberry, and McQueen bags she typically opts for.
Here’s a peek at some of the bags Kate has carried, and if you are as invested in all the theories of her whereabouts, you can share your thoughts below or join our forum members in their discussion!

I don’t care what’s going on with the Princess. Not my business nor anyone else’s. I hope that she gets well soon. I’ve got my own life to worry with.
As far as bags go, she definitely has a type.
Her style is just like her – boring – she makes fun bags lol matronly but I prefer he to Monster Markle And Cruella Parker Bowles
She shouldn’t carry Chanel bags out of respect for her late mother-in-law.
The old lady is dead. Let’s move on.
Are you referring to Princess Diana as “the old lady”??!
Why is that?
My guess is that Coco Chanel was notoriously “OK” with Nazi’s. She lived with a Nazi spy and tried to take back control of part of her business from her Jewish partners by utilizing Nazi based “laws” against Jewish business owners. I don’t believe she was pro-Nazi per se but standing up against a notorious evil was the minimum requirement for most world citizens and she did not do that. (She also later apologized for this) Queen Elizabeth had to spend a good deal of younger life as a royal leading her country in the fight against the Germans.
The company has been owned by a Jewish family since the 70s (same o e she was trying to take over!) so supporting current Chanel brand has nothing to do with Chanel’s personal disgusting past. And yes, she was a Nazi spy herself which is a documented fact. I have struggled with supporting the brand and so I did a lot of research into this
Further, unlike Christian Dior for example, CC was not a patriot and did nothing to oppose the Vichy government. Completely self-interested.
Diana was triggered by the CC on the handbag, she saw it as Charles/Camilla
There are countless photos of Diana with Chanel handbags. Just google Diana+Chanel. She got over it as some point.
I hope this is a joke.
No, it’s not a joke. She didn’t carry Chanel because of the “CC” which reminded her of “Charles and Camilla”. Lorelei is correct; google it. Personally, I thought everyone knew this, but apparently not.
The reason people are saying “I hope this is a joke” is because Diana was often photographed with her five different Chanel bags, one of which was later named after her. The Chanel Diana, produced from ‘89 to the mid 90s, as well as a WOC, a cream top handle bag, a black camera bag with wide quilting, and a cream shopper tote.
Don’t ask me why I know Diana’s wardrobe as well as I do. I blame it of being Of a Certain Age, and bein impressionable when Di-mania was at its height.
She wasn’t as smart as I thought she was then.
You really are exposing your blatant ignorance & bias towards her. Sit down and be quiet, the adults are talking.
Triggered by a stranger on the internet?
🙏🏼
Princess Diana wore Chanel bags, dresses, sling backs etc

She did! Also Chanel costume.
That’s why she used Dior afterwards. CD – Charles Diana.
No, that isn’t why she carried Dior; she liked the brand and then the bag was named after her to honor her. Due to her carrying the bag sales went through the roof.
No, it’s not. It really did trigger Diana. Google it.
You’re absolutely correct! Camilla notoriously sent Charles cufflinks with “CC” (for Charles & Camilla) on them on while he was honeymooning with Diana. Afterwards, Diana was known to have the CC logo buttons removed on her Chanel clothing items before she would wear them.
But just because something comes up in Google search does not make it true.
Diana herself spoke about the CC cufflinks and her aversion to seeing the Chanel CC logo in her biography…
What about the Chanel Diana bag….I heard it was named after her??
Yeah all the bags are all small trapeze flaps with the exception of the two chanel
Actually mostly small rectangles
I love her and hope she’s well! I also love that she supports British designers and bags versus a bunch of other name brands because they are expensive
She looks so good in coats and coat style dresses. Bags look great too. Love the burgundy Chanel.
I think her bag choices are based on the fact that shes working in all of the photos and what she has to do as far as function or event. Small unobtrusive and easy to manage while shaking hands without messing up the outfit. She also carries alot of clutches. Both are easy to hand off to assistant and keeps the hands busy for photos or if you don’t want to shake hands. A shoulder bag would be a pain and a cross body would probably not photograph well.
Where is she though?! They’re handling it so weird and it makes it seem like something is really wrong
I wish the press would leave her alone. At her age, this could have been fibroid surgery or a hysterectomy and none of it is anyone’s business.
Who cares.
I’m not sure why gossip has taken a forefront in PB because this article is thinly veiled as a discussion about her handbags. I come here to get away from all the nonsense, but I guess I can’t escape it anywhere.
I can see how it came off that way. I am a fan of the Royal Family, especially intrigued by their clothing and bags, so with all the articles about her, I thought to share about her bags.
It’s a good article at a good time ❤️❤️
Just purchased a Chanel mini top handle so I’m loving her top handle collection. Her styling head to toe is impeccable.
This was not a representative collection of her bags.
Even Diana carried Chanel; not a problem.
One of the many rules of Royal protocol is that you always must carry a handbag, even if it’s empty. It’s part of formality around Royal dressing.
It was announced very early on that she would not be back before after Easter. I don’t understand all the noise. Give her all the time she needs to heal. In peace and quiet.
I hope everything is fine because I love the royal family!
Useless people living in luxury funded by taxpayers while the rest of the country can’t afford food and housing.
Aspinal is my favourite! The purple is divine.
Well, for a start, why are you adressing her as “Kate Middleton”?
Catherine The Princess of Wales is her correct title. As a journalist, you should know this.
Secondly, stick to handbags, not gossip.
The author is perfectly within her rights to refer to her as “Kate Middleton.” This is not some formal communication through official channels. A journalist’s first and foremost responsibility is not to misrepresent or misconstrue facts and be as objective as possible. As far as addressing people, every media outlet has its own set of rules that are not universal and, dare I say, some can be downright archaic for most readers. For example, NYT still refers to people as Ms./Mr./Mrs. Megs, as a founder of this site, is well within her rights to set the tone and come up with her own set of rules. The most important thing is that any reader can recognize the article was written in a respectful (and not exploitative) manner. Just because you hold reverence for royal titles doesn’t mean others are wrong for not doing the same. Formality is not the only way of showing respect and thoughtfulness.
How incredibly RUDE of you!! As a journalist, Megs can write about anything she damn well pleases!! Did someone force you to read this article? Why are you so angry??
“Journalist” 🤣🤣🤣
I didn’t gossip in the article as far as I interpreted what I wrote. I touched on the fact that her name is all over every piece of news and social media I consume, with the rumors/theories.
Our focus has always been bags and the items that go inside and with our bags, but many times we do focus on current events when it comes to bags. We covered the bags carried to the Super Bowl, shared Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s bags when they first were said to be dating, will cover movie and show premieres, and the like.
While I did touch on the media frenzy surrounding Kate Middleton, I believe my focus was sharing her bags.
As for her title, I also referred to her as the Princess of Wales in the article. The heading had her common name, and the editorial included her title.
Two things to address:
One: Since you are so interested in journalistic practices, you should know that many American news organizations have continued to call her Kate Middleton after her marriage. Major publications (like Newsweek) do this because that’s how the public overwhelmingly searches for her name in Google searches and the like. So these news sources want to reflect that practical usage – regardless of her “correct title.” We are Americans after all, and we did fight a war to get rid of all of these monarchical conventions, right? And in order to get as many eyes on their article as possible, doesn’t it make more business sense for a journalist to use the name that most people actually use when searching for Kate Middleton online instead of her “official title”?
Two: Kate Middleton is all over the news right now and using the situation surrounding her to make a post (a post that, besides 4 or 5 expository sentences at the beginning, is mostly about her handbags mind you) is a smart choice for a journalist that covers handbags and wants to get as many people as possible to read their articles?
Just two things for you to think about before you offer unsolicited criticism in the future!
Reply to Robin: exactly! Very well addressed!
I think she’s lovely, graceful, and has fabulous taste in clothing and bags. I’m heartbroken to read that she has cancer and I hope people stop carping on her so she can focus on her health and family.
I thought she only carried British designers – interesting to see some non-English ones. Her style is okay – not my cup of tea – but she’s very consistent in her choices.
Maybe that rule has been relaxed now that HRH Elizabeth has passed?
I can’t help but think that this is a piece of paid propaganda
You need to go outside.
Where do I sign up?
Paid for by whom?
Re British Brands, surprised to not see something from Asprey’s bag collection. Re non-British brands, am equally surprised to not see anything from Ferragamo. One of their “Iconic” bags would go perfectly with many of those outfits.
That’s a good selection of small bags. I’m sure she has a bajillion more LOL. One of my favorites is the Tusting Mini Holly she’s been seen carrying a couple of times.
