Looking through street style photos during Fashion Week is always fun and almost always makes me start doing mental budget math to see if I can maybe, possibly justify the purchase of, say, a giant feather-covered coat this month, but rarely do street style photos stop me in my tracks. Yesterday, while flipping through Phil Oh’s shots for Vogue.com, that’s exactly what happened. Holy shoes, you guys. I’m a big lover of Alexander Wang‘s accessories, and when the designer debuted a boxy, hefty wristlet called the Alexander Wang Jade Bag for Spring 2011, I was so stoked. I was totally going to get one. The heft, the proportion, the hardware caps on the corners – it was perfection! Except that when I finally got to play with one of these precious little darlings, the bag had one very noticeable design flaw. Now, though, all of that is fixed. Since Balenciaga doesn’t often show handbags on its Paris runway, getting a look at what Nicolas Ghesquiere has cooked up for an approaching season can be a little tricky. From the few pictures I’ve seen, Balenciaga Spring 2011 will feature brightly colored straw motorcycle bags similar to those from Spring 2010, but the addition of this colorblocked shopper is a bit more unexpected.
Spring 2011 prices have yet to be released, so if you’re a Balenciaga lover, what price would you want to see in order to be interested in this bag?
