Illegal Counterfeit Handbags

Yesterday I had the pleasure to tour the newly renovated Salvatore Ferragamo flagship store on Fifth Avenue prior to its official unveiling earlier today. Crafty workers were still busy putting finishing touches on the new decor to have it perfectly presentable for the next morning, but all chaotic last minute touches aside, it was easy to see that the redesign was worthy of a true Fifth Ave flagship.

Occupying an area of about 20,000 square feet, the new Ferragamo store now houses the brand’s largest retail space in the world. The store extends over two floors, the main floor catering to women, while the second floor is entirely devoted to men’s apparel, shoes and accessories.

Personally, I found the revamped flagship to be both characteristic of a luxury Italian brand, but at the same time providing a welcoming retail experience. Lots of walnut wood and luxurious Alcantara accents provide a warm environment, while dark oak and polished steel add modernity. Notably, I found the store to lack unnecessary gimmickry and distracting gadgets; your attention is quickly drawn to the minimalist shelves displaying the gorgeous product.

If you live in town or plan to visit New York City, I recommend you check out the new store and do some damage to your credit line. I myself am seriously considering popping up to Floor #2 and going for a custom suit.

Hermes handbags, accessories and scarves? On sale? We could barely believe it ourselves, but we caught word late yesterday that Hermes would be hosting its New York City sample sale this morning, starting at 9 a.m., at Soiffer Haskin, 317 W33rd Street.

So that’s like, what, an hour from now? Just enough time for you to fake a hacking cough, call in sick to work and get in a taxi headed straight for…West Midtown? North Chelsea? What area is that exactly? Or I guess you could get on the subway and head for Penn Station, but as anyone who’s even been in Penn Station knows, that’s a last resort. For discounted Hermes, though, it might be worth it. The sale runs from until 8 p.m. today, and if you absolutely can’t make it, you can also try your luck between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. If you go, please report back with what you bought and what they had!

I know that not everyone who reads our blog lives in New York City (or everyone that writes for it, for that matter – only our intern Anna!), but I’m better that at least a few of you do and might be interested in this news – our friends at Botkier have opened their first store in Nolita!

I haven’t been there yet, obviously, but it’s on my list of places to visit when I next go to NYC (hopefully in the spring – cross your fingers for me!). It looks like a great spot for handbag lovers, however – have any of our lovely readers been that would like to report back? If you haven’t, make the jump to see a larger picture! (more…)
