When I think of summer and straw clutches, greige is not exactly the first color to spring to mind. Although it’s my favorite neutral (besides leopard print, which is a neutral too, I swear), there comes a time when winter has lasted far too long and the last thing you want to see is another sullen, pallid handbag. For me, that time came this past weekend when it felt like November during my trip up North.

If that time has yet to arrive for you, perhaps you’d like to bring greige into the new season with the Matthew Williamson Raffia Leather Clutch. I’m sensing a pattern. First we talked about the Marc by Marc Jacobs Tangramarama Anna Clutch, which Megs decided she loved so much that she made it one of her ShopBop Fashion Insider picks. And now we have the Marc by Marc Jacobs Tang Natalie Bag, which takes a similar tone-texture concept and turns it into a functional option for everyday use.

Keep this stuff coming, Marc. This line is the freshest and most interesting stuff that I can remember seeing from Marc by Marc Jacobs in quite a while. (more…)

It seems like nearly every brand is making some version of the chain-handled flap bag notoriously popularized by Chanel decades ago, and for people who love the look but don’t want to pay Chanel prices, it couldn’t be more conveniently. Particularly when brands like Kate Spade get in on the fun – Spade’s ladylike aesthetic works perfectly with the scale and feel of a flap bag.

The Kate Spade Evangeline Shoudler Bag is an especially lovely specimen. The taupe color might skew a little bit into old lady territory, but I’m hoping that in person, it would be a very modern greige. If that were the case, I’d be able to get behind this bag 100%. (more…)
