Mini Review: The Row Lizard Shoulder Bag

Day 11 of #stayhomewithbags

I’m back to share more of the bags that have been part of my Instagram #stayhomewithbags series (and don’t worry, this time, I’m adding more details for you!). The next bag in my series is a lesser known bag, my The Row Classic Shoulder Bag in Lizard. You may know The Row for its designers, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, and the two have garnered serious style and designer credibility over the years. The line is sleek, refined, modern and classic. Each season, the clothing is highly sought after by fashion buyers and style lovers. The sister design duo have built a name for themselves by reinventing basics from blazers to cable knit sweaters by using the finest materials and top notch techniques.

When it comes to bags, The Row tends to fly under the radar, aside from its Backpack which was a huge success many years ago. Around 2014, the brand poised itself for expansion by lowering price points on some new bag designs. While I own so many easily recognizable shapes and brands, having something different in my collection feels special and is a bag that I turn to for a quiet statement. The Classic Shoulder Bag from The Row is just as its name suggests, classic in appearance for the shape and style. The bag is compact and structured, with the color being the right hue of yellow (a light almost pastel), which allows it to work with majority of outfits.

The shoulder strap is removable, but it attaches through loops under the top flap and it’s actually quite hard to remove. That being said, I never have wanted to carry this bag as a clutch, so I don’t opt to remove the shoulder strap. The interior isn’t large, but it can fit your going out essentials. The reason I was drawn to this bag then and now is because it lacks any of the over the top monogramming, logos, and trinkets other bags and designers consistently offer. Don’t get me wrong, I like all of those aforementioned things just fine, but I appreciate a brand that sticks to an understated, sleek appeal and hasn’t strayed from that since day 1.

This specific bag isn’t for sale anymore, but you can shop The Row bags at Saks and Neiman Marcus.

*You can watch my video review of this bag on Instagram (however, you need to be logged in!).
